Ours is shitty, too. It's Tom's grandma's tree so we didn't even buy it. I already hate having a fake tree, but now I have one you can basically see through and to top it off, it now has 8 NBA figurines hanging on it because MIL got out the kids old ornaments this weekend. So, thanks MIL, now I can see Scottie Pippen and look straight through to see Larry Bird.
Mine has been shitty since I bought it, 9 years ago. I was bold this year and tore off all of the attached lights, since the middle strand has been out for 8 year, and added my own LEDs. Still looks shitty. I'm buying a new one after Christmas! Someone hold me to that.
I have an entry into the shitty tree contest. MIL took some free Christmas trees from a church who was giving them away after VBS one summer. (Like, they were so bad, the owners didn't want them back, LOL.) This was the year we got married (2006?). We used it since then, and had to rip off all the attached lights at one point because half of them burned out, ripping out a lot of the remaining needles in the process.
H brought one home from HD Friday that he got for $80. It's actually a really nice Martha Stewart tree, but it's 7.5 feet tall and I have 8 foot ceilings, so it looms quite large, LOL. Apparently he took me seriously after my 8 years of "We'll buy a new tree on clearance after Christmas!".
Am I the only one mega jealous of h and her job situation? I know you have earned it but damn lol. We know you make way more than us and only work twenty hours a week and thus would never take an 8-5 also farmvillelover
Eta: to be clear love you both
Ha! Plenty of people on this board make way more than me, I have no benefits, my tax situation sucks, my pay is totally unpredictable, and I still pull the occasional all nighter despite my "flexible hours." I will for, for example, be spending a couple hours drafting a letter later tonight. And the only reason I have this gig is because I practice in an obscure area of the law that no one else in my firm has any interest in because it is, well, not that interesting. I do have a really nice deal and obviously have no desire to give it up, but there are definitely down sides. I suspect lots of people would prefer to go to a nice office and have a nice, predictable paycheck, some job security, and a 401(k). Also, my only other real grown up job was big law associate, so I suspect any other job situation would seem comparatively dreamy.
You guys, my H just revealed that he hasn't had an eye exam since he took his drivers test at age 16. He's 36. Duuuude.
How is this possible? I know I've done it several times, when I moved states or went in to renew or change addresses!
I know!? I don't understand how this is possible either. I have an annual eye exam. Though, when signing up for new health insurance last month he didn't think it was worth it to pay $30/ month for vision insurance coverage. Um... What!?
I just think it's awesome that you can be around after school and do all the parent stuff that you want to do while still working and making good money.
Right now we are doing great and DD is thriving at daycare, but I think it will get harder once school and activities and friends start.
and I adore farmvillelover but working out 2 hrs/day every day isn't my jam. I'd rather drink coffee and GBCN from work. But that's why she looks the way she does and I look...this way

That is exactly why I have no desire to take on a traditional full-time job at the moment--the after school flexibility is so nice. I did not really mind working full-time and then some when DS1 and DS2 were little bitty (and I never felt guilty about it), but with school-age kids, I find it really nice to be able to work primarily when they are at school or asleep so that the after school hours are free for activities, homework, play dates, appointments, and other fun or necessary stuff. I am definitely a huge advocate for putting in the time while your kids are younger in exchange for more flexibility later on if you have a career path that allows for that.
I'm so sick of listening to MH complain about being sick. Does this make me cold hearted? I'm congested and my throat hurts slightly, but I just KOKO. Sack up, man.
It took J two hours to fall asleep today. He didn't wake up until 1 after being up until midnight, so he was only awake for about 6 hours today and only took one short nap. Combo of probably not eating enough and being overtired is not good.
We set up our tree but I need to find the time to take some pictures of J and us in front of it. I think we might be sending Christmas/New Years combo cards since I keep putting it off.
Herpangina is no fun. My sweet little guy is crying all the time. He's not eating much and thanks to his ear infection, he now hates taking medicine. He's now in our bed, after two nights of completely awful sleep in the crib, we decided to just give in tonight. Someday we'll sleep train- grrr!

We did some family shots of friday and I'm nervous how they will turn out. I was on the fence about getting pics and a friend of a friend was starting a photography business so I decided to try her out. When we got there she wasn't ready and they were washing the floors and she disappeared for like 20 minutes to prep her studio and then couldn't find her props when she was shooting. When I got home I saw that I had a fb message from her 1 minute before our shoot was supposed to start saying she was having a family emergency and stuck at the dr. with her kid. She probably sent it like 2 minutes before we got there. I think she just forgot about us and then made up an excuse since she was at her house with healthy children when we got there. I hope we get some cute ones
