I just watched the series finale of Desperate Housewives (2 days late). I used to spend Sundays watching that and Brothers and Sisters.
Now my only shows left are Private Practice (which is sometimes iffy), Revenge, Survivor, Glee (which I find annoying sometimes) and Grey's Anatomy (also very hit or miss).
So obviously, I need some new shows because I don't watch many and I don't even like half of them very much anymore.
If anyone has recommendations for something I can easily catch up with on DVD or jump into, I'm all ears.

I love Bones, Parenthood, Castle, How I met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Fringe and I know there are some that I can't think of right now. I think a lot of them have previous seasons on netflix if you have that. Otherwise they should be on dvds. This season's episodes might be on the network websites or hulu.
I'm with you, seems like the hour long shows I liked are all ending.
I just can't get into shows like HIMYM and Big Bang. DH likes Big Bang, but both of us agree HIMYM is really bad and the acting seems worse than the writing.
Is scandal really that good? I'm not a Kerry Washington fan myself.
Justified, Mad Men, The Walking Dead, Dexter, Psych
I could not do Game of Thrones--the combo of sex and violence was just too much for me.
We've been watching episodes of the original Twilight Zone lately. A couple of years ago we went through the entire X-Files series. It is excellent if you didn't watch it originally.
So much good stuff on TV on sundays! Game of Thrones, Sister Wives, Mad Men & Real Housewives of NJ.
If you are looking for other shows to watch, I liked Alcatraz but I heard it got cancelled. I also like Person of Interest and I love How I Met your Mother and Modern Family.
Sunday: The Simpsons (sometimes, depends on what we're doing) People love Mad Men, but we don't have cable.
Monday: How I Met Your Mother (We caught up on reruns in syndication, Lifetime maybe?, and On Demand)
Tuesday: Glee and New Girl
Wednesday: Suburgatory, Modern Family, Revenge (OMG SO GOOD)
Thursday: 30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Rec (one of my favorites)
Of course, I was just thinking that we're going to be watching a lot more Netflix since most shows' seasons are ending for the summer. We watched Weeds on Netflix streaming and really liked it. Now we're watching Entourage on Netflix DVD. I'm also interested in Six Feet Under and The Wire.
I do not have this problem of running out of shows. My DVR is on overload:
Game of Thrones, Around the World in 80 Plates, Modern Family, Amazing Race (just finished), Grey's, Private Practice, Revenge, Sister Wives, Mad Men, Bethenny Ever After, Real Housewives of NJ/OC, some other Bravo junk.
We are also working our way through Season 3 of Parenthood on Hulu.

!! I love HIMYM and think the acting is just fine! (Maybe not Emmy-worthy, but entertaining and hilarious to me.) What I can't wrap my mind around is the popularity of BBT. Maybe it's because I am a science nerd myself* and I like television shows to pull me out of my boring reality, but I have watched several episodes and average one laugh per episode.

The first 4 seasons of Mad Men are on netflix streaming.
If you're looking for another hour-long show, I suggest Castle. DH calls it a modern Murder She Wrote, but we love it. Plus, if you ever watched Firefly, there are frequent little references that are just awesome.

I was OBSESSED with the X Files in 8th grade #nerd
You remind me, though, that a lot of shows are available to stream on Amazon Prime for free (the X Files is one of them). I should do that.
Thanks for the other recommendations - I'll have to check them out. I especially think the Good Wife is probably one I should watch, but have never caught.
oh man Homeland is excellent, and love Modern Family although this season wasn't as good as the first two (except for the episodes with the dog, love that frenchie!)
Ahh yes, this too. I only started watching it because the main character is a chemist. LOL
this is such a good show, so bummed that its ending. and i dont even know if i will like the last season - gus was a big deal.
i watch a lot of hbo shows: boardwalk empire (so great), the life and times of tim, life's too short and girls. i also watch a lot of bad reality tv: dance moms, dance moms miami, next food network star, all bravo shows.
i was watching mob wives but every episode is exactly the same.
i like the new show "the b in apartment 23" and modern family.
i would trade all those shows though for some more rock of love or i love money.
