I feel like I'm missing a girl gene or something. SIL baby shower is tomorrow and I'm cohosting. The other cohosts and SIL keep texting things like, "I'm so excited! This is going to be so much fun." I honestly can't remember having a lot of fun at a baby or wedding shower before. Even my own, although I was grateful for the gifts, I didn't like being the center of attention, don't really like the games or passing around the gifts and oohing and ahing. Am I a hater?
Disclaimer: Yes, of course I will make SIL feel special tomorrow and be friendly and smiley, etc. But I'll sort of be faking it. The baby, on the other hand, I'm very excited about.
No. The shower that I hosted, all the BMs and the bride sat with one of the BM's mom, asked her what to do next and counted down the minutes until we could drink afterwards.

I actually really do like them. I enjoy giving gifts. I like putting together a great gift from stuff on their registry, making a card & stuff. I loved my bridal shower. It was a lot of fun & I enjoyed spending the time with everyone. I guess I'm a sappy girl?
I do enjoy baby showers for close friends and family. I love seeing all the cute baby clothes and getting excited for a brand new baby. Wedding showers, meh.
I always feel like it's awkward to watch someone opening gifts. Hell, I felt awkward opening stuff at my own shower. "Yay! Something I picked out that you bought for me! Good job!"

why do we even still do these things if nobody likes them!??!?! and dont' say gifts! people can send gifts
Because it's tradition, maybe? I don't know, I would have been sad if no one wanted to host or give a shower for my wedding and my possible future baby(ies).

I hate them, I told my sister that I'd be willing to attend hers if/when she gets married. Otherwise, I prefer to send an overly nice gift and never show up.
