Yes. Pedi said E was getting too much (she was getting around 20oz/day) and it affects the absorption of an important vitamin (can remember which). So now it is just offered morning and bedtime. The rest of the day is water. But now my mom asks me does she drink too much water. So IDK which is better.
Daycare offers it 1-3x per day and usually we don't give him any during the week at home. On weekends, we usually do 2 x 6oz cups throughout the day, often first thing in the morning and as an afternoon snack.
But he has never been a huge milk drinker and eats lots and lots of food.
We do water at meals and in between, especially if it is hot out.
This is us, but we give AM milk daily and daycare does an afternoon cup. We count milk as snacks.
O doesn't seem to notice whether it's milk or water, so I just pour milk in during meals until he finishes it and water otherwise. I consider milk a relatively healthy drink, so I'm not sure I'd limit it if he did love it.
At that point I would offer water. I have never limited it if that was what the kids wanted but they rarely cared if I told them they could have water not milk.
No, but we have the opposite problem. They do water a lot at daycare, and his desire to drink milk comes and goes. Sometimes he'll chug 6oz, other times he won't touch it.
DS will drink 20-30 Ozs a day. He gets a sippy at breakfast, after nap & before bedtime routines. Once in a while he will ask for a second milk at one of those times. He has a water bottle he sips on during the day.
My kids are older (4 and 6) but I limit milk to a cup a day (maybe 10 oz.). They get plenty of fat and protein and calcium in other places, so I figure they don't need the extra sugar. They drink water the rest of the day. We don't do juice.
My my mil is a milk pusher. I watched her give my niece three cups of whole milk in a sitting at lunch today and bit my tongue.

We do with our underweight kid. She would drink milk all day long if we let her, to the exclusion of everything else. So no milk before meals is our rule.
This is what I do. He will definitely drink all his calories if allowed, so I try to limit it before meals.
He also LOVES water, and has a definite preference for what he wants to drink now. He seems to be preferring water these days.

c is on soy or almond due to his dairy allergy, but I asked the pedi about it at his 15 month appointment and he said to limit it to 24 oz (or less) per day. C typically has 20, 6-8 right at wake up, 6 at nap and 6 before bed.
