I went to see the third installment of the Hobbit yesterday and thought it was the best of the three. While I felt they lingered a bit too long on Thorin's madness, the movie finally evoked some emotion, like in Lord of the Rings. This one didn't drag as much as the first two and didn't have as much filler, which is probably why it was a lot better. I found the ending a tad abrupt, though. They left one important thing unresolved, in my opinion. Anyone else watch? What did you think?

I liked it. I actually didn't see the first one, but I agree it moved faster and had less filler. I also could've done with less crazy Thorin. I thought the ending was like the ending of ROTK where I just didn't need another 15 minutes of Bilbo returning to the Shire.
What did you think was unresolved? I don't think they told us where Tauriel ended up.
In the Book the Arkenstone is buried with Thorin. I haven't seen this one yet so, maybe they hint at something somewhere, or just think people won't care.

Had I not read the book and loved it so much I would have enjoyed the movie a lot more. I just couldn't divorce myself from the story I know from the story that Jackson wrote. I enjoyed it for what it was, but it was all characters and story that were made up by someone other than Tolkien.
