If you do online dating can you help me?

After reading that some of you have tried online dating and some of you have been pretty successful with it, I went out on a whim and signed up for POF last night. I opened my email this morning and I have 5 emails, 1 favorite and 7 wants to meet. What does that mean? I was on Match in the past and hardly no one contacted me...what does "wants to meet me" mean why didn't they just email me or wink? I should probably read the FAQ page on POF but I'm at work and it's blocked. I'm really surprised Match had me feeling like a loser and POF has me feeling like I'm "bi-winning (in my Charlie sheen voice) lol

The same thing was true for me with match vs. POF. Wants to meet is kind of like a wink, I haven't quite figured it out myself. I tend to ignore them, because I think it's kind of wimpy, although I just got one from a guy with a pretty good profile, so I sent him a message and we've been chatting a bit.

Oh okay I'm getting the wink confused, that's on Match not POF. Thanks! You would think since you have to pay for Match you would get better results..I guess I thought wrong.

Well, I found there were more guys on match that I was interested in, but not nearly as much contact.

POF has the most users of any online dating site. Also, I hear it's pretty regional. Some areas have more users on POF, others on match.

This isnt meant to me mean/harsh. BUt didnt you just leave ur X? Are you sure you are ready to start dating?

I didn't take it in a mean way, thanks. Yes we broke up a few months ago I just decided to come out from lurking. I was through with him long before I left but yes it was been a few months, but I wasn't hurt by him. If anything I am frustrated at myself for staying in a relationship that long knowing I didn't want to be apart of it any longer...I was more upset having to cancel the vendors than breaking off my engagement if that gives you any more insight into how far removed from him I was...

I went on my first date about 3 months after leaving xh, with my counselor's blessing. I don't think a few months is unreasonable, but I know I'm in the minority.

I have to agree with you on that one..the guys on Match were so good looking in their pics but they wouldn't contact me or respond. I haven't looked around on POF yet, I just signed up, completed my profile and logged off I didn't even do any searches last night...so I'm not sure what the guys look like yet lol

Okay good. I was thinking you just left him. If its been a couple of months than thats cool. I just wanted to make sure you werent jumping right into dating again! Good luck! There are some crazies out there on POF, but there are some normal guys too!

I ignore the "wants to meet" and the guys that favorite me and just consider the guys that actually make the effort to send me a message.
If you are considering which website to use, I have found the quality of men on match is much much better than POF. Definitely more in terms of quantity on POF though. Match screens for registered sex offenders. POF does not. So far I have talked to two guys on POF that ended up being registered sex offenders.

I agree about ignoring the "meet me" I found it lead to nothing. I think Match is a little better as far as quality but all sites have creeps and such. Keep a positive attitude and just have fun with it.

I think the problem is guys are creeps lol.. So they pay or sign yo thinking they are normal and totally creepers..butmtheres def some normal.. Good luck
