Boss Lady Tales: apparently we can't afford stand up desks but they're rearranging our entire office. We're going from private offices with doors and audio privacy to an open floor plan, pod layout. No one on our staff level was consulted in this.
I'm extremely sensitive to sound and usually work in silence. I cried in the bathroom.
Noise cancelling headphones are the only reason I haven't killed any of my coworkers.
The super bizzare part is that we had a "customer service" training last fall that talked about how impossible it is to really, really focus on a customer when youre're distracted or multi tasking. So... And open pit of voices and phones and people walking by Will improve that? Huh?

It's mrschicken. I've debated going back, but I'm paralyzed by indecision.
So, H and I went to go have sex. We gave Wyatt an antler to chew on to occupy himself. I could hear him chewing on it in the hallway behind our closed door. Awkward, but whatever.
When we came out of the room his antler was abandoned (which he's never, EVER done) and he was off sulking by himself.
He's totally judging us and pissy he's being left out.
This is just one of the reasons why we can't have kids.
So far the only knitting classes I can find are in the evenings, and the closest is in Clapham I'll keep looking.
I KNOW!!!! I was looking today and they are all at stupid hours. I'm going to be forced to join a gym, aren't I?
Where are you looking? Have you tried the yarn shops near you? (I have no idea _where_ in London you live, but this is a good starting point: www.knitmap.com/locations/map/#/origin:london/)
You can enter your address into that site, and it will center the map on your address. Then the little red arrow things let you see if it's a yarn shop, a spinning or weaving shop, or if they sell other craft stuff. On the "details" page for each site, they provide the shop's address, description, hours, directions (sometimes), and sometimes commentary on it.
I find the site useful when I'm travelling.
Also, if you at least know the basics of knitting (you can _slowly_ cast on, knit, purl, etc), a lot of yarn shops have drop-in social hours where people can come in and knit. It's not really a class, so you won't have dedicated instruction, but it's not uncommon for someone nearby to give you some tips if they notice you are struggling. The general unspoken rule for these social knitting groups would be that you use supplies bought at the shop hosting - at least yarn (because needles are reusable from project to project)...
Also, Ravelry might have some meet-up groups for yarning stuff in your area, too. Those groups meet in all sorts of places, coffee shops, bookstores, yarn stores, parks, etc... I can help you navigate Ravelry, if you want, just PM me.
Have an amazing trip v!! I really want to see some pics when you are back.
I left work today, and took the bus to my local park and ride, just like normal. Got off the bus at the park and ride only to remember that I drove to work this morning - doh!! So I had to wait 15 mins for a bus, take the hour long ride back to work b/c the express lanes weren't in my favor, and then drive home. Needless to say I've had lots of wine tonight Though it's just too absurd and dumb not to laugh. I've had a crazy long week though, working until 1am many mornings... clearly it's not good for my brain!
And H is out of town on a ski trip for work. I'm incredibly jealous, but somewhat loving that I can starfish the entire bed for the next week.
We're in the middle of refinancing our house. Our broker told me that apparently what I submitted as my tax filing wasn't what their agency had from the IRS. I couldn't figure out where they were getting the other numbers b/c I didn't amend or anything. So I had to go into the IRS office this morning in person (a 1.5 hr visit with some of the best people watching I've ever done). Got a copy of my tax filing from the IRS which perfectly matches what I had in Turbotax. Turns out, the stupid underwriter was using a previous version that I had submitted with the wrong last name and was rejected by the IRS numbers were slightly different since I found a few more credits during the time between my first and final submissions). Stupid lady - don't you check that you are using the accepted filing before you waste half a day of everyone's time.
