Vent: I tried to negotiate and future boss was super apologetic about his inability to budge re salary. I still want to work there since I just want to get started. I hope I don't regret it.
I'm being that flaky friend who others are complaining about. It's really hard for me to find time to hang out right now though between mandatory overtime and wanting to spend time with my daughter.
I'm also not enthused because I can't support the choices she is making lately. She's quitting her $15-an-hour 40+-hours-a-week job and has nothing lined up in her hometown where she's moving back to. She currently lives on her own in a very cheap town (rent is $400 something for a 2-bedroom house!), still on her mom's health insurance, and her parents help her with some expenses. I think she's still on one of their cell phone plans. She doesn't seem to have the ability to manage money. I make slightly more than she does, my H doesn't work, and the 3 of us live in a 2-bedroom apartment that rents for $650; we can (barely, but we do) pay our bills each month.
And she met this guy who is still married to a girl we went to high school with. The two of them aren't living together and are separated or filing or something; they have 2 kids together. My friend has already asked once the divorce is complete, how many days he has to wait before he can remarry. I really think she's going to marry him as soon as she can and she's known him less than 2 months.
I don't want to deal with her drama. That's my vent.
I love Seasons 52! I ate there a couple of times when I used to travel to Atlanta for work and I thought it deceptively low calorie because the food was awesome (for a chain and for low calorie food, at least). I was eating on my company's dime, though, so perhaps I'd have been less excited if I was actually paying for it?
I'm really excited because it sounds like one of the super annoying time sucking tasks at my job is going to be going away. The department head came to the same conclusion I have about this task (that it is a waste of my time to be spending several hours a month on) and I didn't even have to bring it up to her. This task used to be a HUGE part of my position back before I was hired and before a ton of stuff changed and our department does a TON more work now than back then. So instead of it being a large part of the job, it was an extra annoying time sucker on top of everything else.
Looong ass story. Basically, HR is a mofo and they dont give a damn about teachers actually enjoying their job. Tney assigned me to a late school, and I would be working/travelling 10 hrs a day. My H travels for work and his schedule is super inflexible.
I dont know what to do. I have an interview to orrow in another district. Positive vibes please!
Good luck! Which school district are you interviewing with?
songforyou, You should talk to your doc about the RLS. I have a prescription that helps sooo much with it. Otherwise, get your H to give you a serious leg massage. Focus on calves and butt. And do your best to relax your muscles. RLS is such a pain.
