I have a wedding to go to on the 24th. Way back, when I rsvp'd, MIL agreed to watch D.
Just this week, MIL said she booked a flight to visit her mother in FL & will be gone during the wedding.
My other day-time babysitter is the mother of the bride. My next option for a babysitter is in the wedding.
I left a message with my aunt to see if she would like to babysit. If that doesn't work out, I have a 17 year old dance student who offered. She's a good kid, but a little flighty (like most teenage girls).
Would you let a 17 year old babysit your 2 1/2 month old? I feel a little weird about having a student in my home too.
Would it be bad to suggest she babysit in her home & ask her mom (who's a nurse) to lightly supervise?
How long will you be gone? Regardless, I'd probably only feel comfortable with the mother there unless you had described the 17 year old as having experience with infants.

My answer will probably totally change once I actually have a 2.5 month old, but I'd maybe be okay with the 17 yo babysitting. However, my H would not.

Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable with that. I just had our 17 year old neighbor watch the kids this past weekend for the first time and Maisy is 16 months. And I was only okay with that because I knew her parents were right next door.
I'd definitely look into seeing if her mother would be open to her daughter watching him at their house while she is there. Otherwise I just wouldn't feel comfortable leaving a young infant in the care of a teenager.
