My wedding was in the NYTimes. #nobigdeal #hairflip
But was it then discussed in Above the Law? Legal Eagle Wedding Watch is a big reason why I did not submit for the NY Times -- if we had made it in, I didn't want people discussing whether I was hot or not. I've read some brutal critiques of people I know.
I didn't submit to my hometown newspaper -- I hadn't lived there in 10 years and none of my friends lived there any longer so I don't know who would have cared.

Yes, it was in my hometown's newspaper. We did not list bridesmaids and groomsmen. We included a wedding pic, said where we went to HS and college and where we currently worked. We also mentioned where we honeymooned.
If you end up doing this and want to leave out where you work, it isn't a big deal. You could skip employment details for both of you. Our engagement announcement went into the paper and I put where DH worked and completely forgot to put where I did lol.
It was in my hometown paper (where my family still lives). I moved 2.5 hours away from there right after I got married so it wasn't in the local to me paper.
ETA: we also put an engagement announcement in my hometown paper and fwiw it was free for both announcements.

LOL - yes it was in my small "village" paper and also my in-laws small mountain town paper. with pictures in both papers. Neither of us live in these small towns but our parents did at the time. it wasn't a big deal to me and made them happy.
OMG, don't do it. My wedding was over 10 years ago and one of the first things that comes up when you google my name is my wedding info complete with maiden name, picture, etc. Once it's out there for posterity...it's out there.
