Going equipped means I an squeezing myself into a suit made of material that doesn't give that hurts and takes time to put on. Mine is absurdly quick at 5 minutes by myself, but it's also too big. The one I will break in for nationals will likely take me around 20 minutes with help to get into. I struggle with deadlift- I have to pull myself down to the bar because of the suit. And they leave pretty marks everywhere. Rawr.
And with a suit on I have to go much heavier. Raw my opening squat is around 315. With my suit I am pushing it opening at 408. I literally cannot get deep enough with less weight because of the suit. Most people have switched away from suits and wraps because it's a PITA.
Damn, girl. I know you mentioned your suit before once or twice, but I didn't realize it was THAT restrictive, or that it would change your weights that much. That's crazy! When are nationals? Also, this is hopefully not stalker-y, but I think that it's really cool that you're this into powerlifting. I never would have had any contact with weightlifting if not for Crossfit, so I feel like it's badass for women especially to have been doing that sport for a while.
I think my "like" button is broken! Good luck everyone! cinco - how awful! Wishing him a very quick recovery.
It's that time of year for me when weekends are spent alone with DD! I might try for yoga tomorrow morning and see how it goes, and DD and I are going "hiking" on Sunday. I also told her we could go buy a few Valentine decorations for the house. I'm sure we'll eat at Whole Foods all 3 nights. I also have exciting plans to clean out & organize the pantry. Bday party on Sunday.
My max lifts are all kinds of out of balance, in terms of ratios. I have to figure out what's up with that.
Considering I can power clean and power snatch more than I squat clean/snatch, I'll cosign this. But I know what's up with it, my messed up back has meant starting from square -1000 with squatting, and I'm still working on it.

The NHL All Star Weekend is here so my plans mostly revolve around that. My DW (yes, we're trying to work things out and it's actually going really well) got the three of us tickets to the fan fair this evening so we're heading down there as soon as she's ready.
Tomorrow morning I'm doing the All Star 5k with my mom and sister, which I'm really looking forward to. I might be having lunch with some friends but I'm not sure yet.
Sunday DS has soccer and then he's going to my parents' house for a sleepover. We're going to the All Star game. She took the night off so we can just take it easy, have a good time and not worry about having to be home by any particular time.
I'm working all weekend but I have Monday off so I'll be aiming for a long run then. I need to sit down and figure out if I can realistically train for an April marathon or not.

Got some Mardi Gras-related activities tonight and Sunday, and a 13 mile training run on the schedule for tomorrow. My runs this past week or so have been kinda sucky, so I'm worried about this long run. This week and next are my peak mileage weeks, and I'm so tired I can barely see straight.
Good luck racers and lifters! cinco - that sounds horrible, rear ended at 40MPH?? holy shit! I hope there are no lasting injuries.
I'm heading up to Napa tonight to spend time with my bestie. I'll run with her and her training partner in the morning - they have 14 miles on their schedule, which is on my schedule for next weekend. I'd really like to run with them, and I got my quad worked on yesterday, so I'm thinking my knee should be fine with the 14 miles. If i feel bad I can always bail earlier and just stick to my plan.
On the way home, I'm stopping to rent a wetsuit for my first attempt to swim in open water!!!! I'm so freaked out about jumping in the SF Bay in February. But mrs.jacinthe has threatened to throw me in if she thinks I'm chickening out, and bless her heart she has pledged to swim next to me so I don't freak out.
And my LBS told me the 48cm version of my bike has arrived and been assembled, so I'm going to go try it out to see if I like the fit better than 51cm. I'm growing weary of my campaign to come to a consensus with my H on the bike budget. He really is just failing to share my vision here and I'm really struggling to not be frustrated about that.
ktzmoh, does this mean you're getting a bike after all? That's awesome! Hooray!
Out of curiosity, how long is the wetsuit rental? We're still ~2 weeks from the relay (right? Time is weird for me right now).
They have 1 week and 1 month options. But the weekend before is looking really hectic for me, so I figured I should go in when I have time and just pay for the month. who knows, maybe I'll even go do a second swim before I have to return it?? lol.
ANd re the bike, it's a foregone conclusion that it will be mine.
I just need him to be all: "Yes, you deserve this. Go find your limits and destroy them." Instead he's all "Fine just go get the damned bike so I don't have to hear about it anymore"

In May. I will get my taint handed to me royally, but it is what it is. I need to do my National Referee test and that has to be done at a national meet, so might as well lift while I am there.
I will have a tighter suit for that meet though. Good times.

Well, humph. Would it help if I said that you deserve this? Because you do. Now go FSU.

You are very sweet. I'll spend a bit more time trying to make him see the light. Also, we need to do our taxes to make sure we didn't really screw up our withholdings again. I'd feel really bad if I went out and blew the money on the bike and then we wound up facing an ungodly tax bill.
Hugs cinco and hannahb. I hope 100% health returns to both your houses soon!
Ditto all of this! Well put Blondie. Wishing all of you great results this weekend.
ETA: cinco - car accidents are so hard on the body. I'm sending extra prayers to your H and your family. If he believes in chiropractic I highly recommend that in addition to your regular doctor. After my car was hit in a snowstorm several years ago my chiropractor worked small miracles for me.
I'm working some and hopefully going to have lunch with my parents tomorrow. I'm also aiming for a 2 - 2.5 hour long run. Depending on how it goes I may finally commit to some spring races.
Good luck to everyone competing! cinco, I hope your husband feels better soon and there's no lasting aches and pains. How scary!
My plans for the weekend are to drink and drink. I must've been some sort of an awful person lately according to the Karma Gods because this week has been so unbelievably stressful. BUT, the best man from our wedding is visiting from WI, and I'm going to do an easy run tomorrow for the first time since the marathon, so it's bound to be a good weekend!

I have a group ride of 40ish-50ish tomorrow. Maybe a practice at the track Sunday if the weather is nice.
ghostmonkey suit, like the suits you see them wear in the Olympics or something else? Because I have all sorts of weird mental images going through my head now.
cinco - get better soon wishes to your hubs. Neck/back pains are no fun at all.

They generally are just wearing singlets. We use those for raw meets.
