Yeah, I thought that kind of configuration would be nice because I could possibly get one of the single seats on the sides. But you make a good point that the added space wouldn't really be there.
Every seat in those configurations is the same so you don't get more room on the sides vs the middle. And ditto the pp about not caring at all about bring kids into first class.
Not that anyone was dying for an update, but I just found out that Qatar Airways has a bassinet that fits up to 14kg! Thought I'd make the Public Announcement in case anyone has an option to fly with them in the future.
I'm super stoked because DS sleeps really well in bassinets (and I can avoid buying another ticket!). They were actually the airline with the best price from the beginning, but I was avoiding it because of the long layover (9 hours). They SHOULD be able to put us up in a hotel for the duration as part of the deal, though I hear they try to weasel out of that offer usually. I'll see if I can fight for it. Would be nice to get a good nights sleep in between two long flights!
Anyway, the first class option with Delta was a no-go because I realized I'd have to pay 10% fare of the ticket cost for DS even if I bought with miles. Not worth it.
ETA: Qatar does charge 20% for lap infants, which is above the normal 10% on most airlines. I'm hoping the added amenities will make it worthwhile.
