Positive random to make up for my rant. I got an letter from my boss today that I'm getting a pretty big bonus (by my, not mm's standards). pretty nice to still get it even though I've been off since last Feb.i wasn't expecting it at all.
Did you end up deciding to stay? I remember they let you extend your ML but wasn't there still some debate about what your next steps were/are?
ETA: Congrats on the bonus by the way!
Yes. I went to the company HQ last week to test the waters and see how I feel and it actually made me excited to go back. Plus the bonus is helping lol. I'm back at work at the end of Feb.
I am pretty impressed with my c-section incision. For as long as it is, it looks very neatly done and thin. I thought it would be gorier.
Keep in mind I know jack about surgical techniques. But good job, doc.
Yay! I have not surveyed incisions, but apparently some are better than others. The nurses who looked at mine kept fawning over it and praising my doctor. It was super weird. Like to the point of 1 nurse calling a 2nd nurse in to gawk (in a positive way) weird.
I'm solo parenting tonight, so H wasn't around to help with getting DD changed before bed like he usually does. It went badly. So very badly.
DD pooped right before I changed her. As soon as I pulled her diaper off, she shoved her hands straight in the poop. Great. I clean her hands off as well as I can, then start on her butt. She then yanked the poo-covered wipe out of my hands with strength and speed I didn't even know she had, shoved it right in her mouth, and started sucking on it. I mean, I heard the sucking noise and everything. It was so poo covered. And she was sucking on it. OMG. When I was nursing her afterwards, all I could think was 1) maybe the magical antibacterial properties of breastmilk will kill any fecal matter in her mouth, and 2) HER POO MOUTH IS ON MY NIPPLE!
I need alcohol - both for me to drink and to douse my boobs with in an attempt to sterilize them.
Omg! Someone with a better GBCN memory than me needs to remember this for a best/worst shituation 2015.
Well, E's lips started turning blue today in addition to her hands so I took her back to er. She has pneumonia! I knew something was Wrong but her lungs sounded clear and she didn't present with typical symptoms. She most likely aspirated on vomit the first time she got sick when she was sleeping. It would explain why she started this immediately after the stomach virus and why the other kids dont have anything I'm just glad I took her back and pushed!
I got good news about work today and it looks like I will be able to quit my old job sooner rather than later. Can't wait to only be working one job instead of 2!
My sister gave us one of those counter top dishwashers for Christmas. It's fun to contemplate what we could put in it, but I'm annoyed because we tested it and it failed on both bottles and leftover containers. Also, I discovered today that half filling it and then leaving it closed up for 24 hours makes a really gross smell.
In other news, I think this snowstorm is going to be a totally lame over hyped thing here. I should be happy about this because 1-3 feet of snow is a huge pain, but I already feel preemptively cheated out of the excitement of a huge storm. Maybe I'll be wrong.

I have another random. DD opened her mouth laughing today and I suddenly noticed 4 new teeth that weren't there last night. 4! No wonder she has been biting me while nursing. Bloody hell.

Oh no. I hope she gets better soon and I'm glad you pushed.

My incision isn't symmetrical and it drives me freaking batty. I told H that if I end up having a repeat C for #2 that I wan to ask them to cut a little further on the right to make it even. I'm insane. Obviously I didn't care at the time it was happening because I could feel everything, but damn if it isn't a cruel joke for a type A personality.
@this has inspired me to create a gallery wall EXCEPT I want one art vs. family pictures. Would it be weird to have mainly art but some family pictures as well? Also, is there a good side for templates I am not good at this stuff lol.
If I do art I don't have to use mattes in the frames right? Most photos I see online are for family pictures and all have a photo matte too, but that seems unnecessary for artwork.
Whether it's art or pictures, I just like the way matting looks better. It looks more finished? Less amateur? (lolol at me being a decorating pro)
All my non-painting artwork is matted. (My grandmother is a well known, accomplished artist, so I get prints for free, which is the only way I could collect so much)

DH just called his sister and told her he's not going to her co-ed baby shower. She's super mad at him with a dash of hormonal pregnant crazies thrown in.
I'm still going and I guess I'll be the only one there without my significant other, but oh well.

Unrelated and feel free to ignore: WHEN ARE YOU TESTING?
karinothing -- I think it depends on both the artwork and the frame. Almost all of our prints and watercolors are matted, but I do have a couple un-matted prints (larger ones that I didn't want to make even bigger). Oils or acrylics on canvas aren't matted.
First, I'm so glad you got everything figured out with E before the blizzard hits, hope she is on the mend now.
First day back went pretty well, only minimal tears this morning. Everyone was great at work and glad to have me back which felt really nice. I spent most of the day just sorting through emails and reading up on staff meeting minutes, etc.
But, I got in a huge fight with my DH tonight ugh. I rushed to get an earlier train home, he picked up the babies at DC. He asked me to stop by CVS and pick up some prescriptions for him - antianxiety and asthma meds, so ones he needed before the storm. CVS ends up being a huge shit storm and took a 45 min wait to then learn they didn't have the prescriptions ready. I was so mad to waist all that time there instead of being home with my kids. I wished he had planned better and gotten them before they run out and been a bit more sympathetic about how hard my first day back was going to be and how much I would want to get home and see the babies.
Just got off the phone with my daycare provider. She had to cancel daycare today because her son's wife was having a baby on Sunday night and things went south. Thankfully, her DIL and new grandson are both healthy but not before a very scary ambulance ride and separation. The DIL still hasn't seen or held her own son because she's stuck at a different hospital after an emergency C. My heart is breaking just thinking about not seeing my baby for that long.
My mom had the day off, so she and I took DD to a mall that has a giant carousel in the middle of it. DD rode twice with each of us and was absolutely losing her damn mind going up and down on the horse, kicking her legs, shouting "NEIGH! NEIGH!" and waving at people going by. So freaking cute!

I haven't! Even though it's the closest, I usually I avoid that mall because lots of the good stores are gone now. I might have to take him for the carousel though!

Yeah, I get that. Some of the art work is pretty big though, so I feel like the matting would make it HUGE. Maybe I will do a mix like this

Are you on pinterest yet? I've pinned a bunch of ideas there lol.
I don't think you need the mat - I think that's just a style preference, artwork or family (and I think a mix is fine).
Yeah, I look on pinterest. It throws me off because it is all family pictures. I haven't found a picture of a mix of pictures and art yet. I am not good at visualization.

I like these examples and prefer the look to all identical mats. It seems more organic/eclectic, like you acquired interesting art over the years instead of going out and buying a bunch of matching stuff.

So we moved DS to a twin bed (out of the crib) on Saturday and it was magical. Naptime and bedtime were great, slept through the night. I was thrilled. I definitely did a little dance or two. Ahem. Sunday he realized that he wasn't getting his crib back ever and has refused to sleep in the new bed alone since. Last night I spent two hours in there with him until he passed out from exhaustion. He woke up again at 4:45 in the morning and would only go back to sleep lying on top of me in his bed. He completely refused his nap today, sobbing every time he was left alone in his room. Crying to sleep doesn't work for him.
I told DH that if this keeps up I'm going to Home Depot and buying the stuff to make him a twin sized crib.

h Thanks. That is kind of what I was going for. I don't like everything to be so matchy and perfect. That being said, I also haven't spent years collecting art, sadly! We have 2-3 things we can put up now, but the rest I am searching for on Etsy and other art websites. I wish I had a larger budget!

Yeah, it definitely isn't the best mall, but the carousel was definitely worth it (also there was a Crazy 8 store, which is always fun for dropping a little $).
Anyone care to voice an opinion on wallpaper for my laundry room? We are replacing the old blue and brown floral you can kind of see on the wall, and I am liking the coral and white link and the gray/white/orange ikat you see in the foreground. Preferences? Are both terrible?
I'm kinda down tonight. Between Christmas, vacation, and DD's 1st bday, I've spent too much money lately - irresponsibly. It's all coming out of savings, which we aren't in any position to replace. We have a kid now, so I need to get my act together. And I also need to get my act together on the diet front too. Between Christmas, vacation, and party prep I'm not even in a routine with my workouts anymore and I'm sometimes turning to food when DD stresses me out. Blah. At least it feels good to get this out here.
