It's J.J. Abrams, so of course I'll watch it. I hope it doesn't get too Lost-y. There will never be another Lost, networks. Stop trying to make Lost happen.
DW and I were discussing the commercial last night and agreed we will probably give it a watch. I too hate end of the world type things because I'm frankly scared of my own shadow and can't handle the thought of the world ending. But DW loves that stuff so as long as she'll watch it with me to talk me down from any ledge we are good to go.

I'll totally watch this. I also watched The Colony a while back which was cheesy but interesting. My Dad has been training me for the apocalypse since I was a toddler
At first I thought this looked promising but now the commercials make me laugh. Especially the slo-mo one. And I watched Jericho (which was cheesetastic at times) and yet I'm thinking this one is not DVR worthy.
H and I were talking about this the other day. He was laughing at the premise that the laws if physics would just all of a sudden no longer be true. I have to say, those people look entirely too pretty for post-civ Earth. I don't look that good on any given day.
I love stuff like this so of course I will watch. I just read a book about an EMP causing the loss of power in the US. The book itself was meh but reading about all the things that would no longer work was pretty terrifying. I know from my apocalyptic studies (TM) that the US is essentially completely unprepared for a terrorist or rogue nation that manages to launch a nuclear weapon that causes an EMP.

I haven't watched the trailer, but the premise sounded pretty dumb to me. Exactly why does the power go out and never turn on again?

Life After People was the scariest post-apocalyptic show ever. "You think you'll survive when the power goes out? Oh, you forgot about the power required to safely shut down those nuclear reactors? Sucks to be youuuuu!"

See, I love this kind of shit. It fascinates me so much. That series was. Asked loosely on the book "The World Without Us" (IIRC) which was an amazing read even if it did make me just throw up my hands say "well, we're fucked" and stop worrying so much about rinsing my recyclables or getting plastic bags at the grocery store.

I tried to read that one recently and could not get through it. The writing was atrocious.

My Dad got me the book for Christmas a couple of years ago. It was fascinating! It definitely didn't help my natural inclination toward apathy though, haha!
I remember visiting NYC right after I watched the LAP episode about the city- H was getting really sick of me telling him how quickly nature would take over this and that if we all died ;D
The premise is really interesting, but I think the terrible acting and gorgeous, perfectly styled flowing tresses of the main actress are going to prevent me from enjoying this.
MH is all over this, so I'm sure we'll be watching.
I really hate dystopian lit, post-apocalyptic stuff. It's generally something I refuse to read or watch because there's nothing enjoyable about it to me and it makes me panic-y. However, MH has somehow gotten me to watch The Walking Dead and will probably get me sucked into this too. My nightmares are going to be epic this fall.

Have you ever seen Falling Skies? DH and I have been watching this (I can't decide if it's awesome or awful) and while the men all look like what men who have been battling the alien-induced end of the world for 6 months should look, the women all look like they've stepped off the cover of Glamour. Gorgeous hair, gleaming white teeth, plucked brows, et al.

This is one of the reasons I liked The Colony. They all ended up looking pretty haggard.
I'm actually watching The Colony now. The first season was amazing, but so far the second season is lackluster. And the whole quarantine thing is annoying.
My feelings on Revolution are conflicted. Some of the previews where there is dialog and a bit of back story it seems interesting. But the slow-mo battle looks like a steaming pile of cheesy crap.
