I'm in the market for a Beco Gemini because I want a carrier where she can face out, but I can't decide what color / pattern I want. Full disclosure: I kind of hate all of them and can't decide which is least offensive to my senses. What I really want is the Spotted Love Tula, but that doesn't allow forward facing carry
I would probably do the all black or maybe the scribble? Something dark to hide any stains or what not, because if it was me a little spot isn't going to get me to wash something right away so if it can be hidden, perfect lol

I was leaning towards Scribble. I want a LITTLE flare, but all of the super colorful patterns just aren't doing it for me.
i don't want to get preachy--you know reasons against facing out, right? i prefer back carry so that baby can see forward.
That's the thing - I've heard rumblings about how it's bad for spine development and can cause hip dysplasia, but I can't find any reputable sources that explain why.
They have to sit unassisted for a back carry in a ssc which provides all the luxury of seeing it all that forward facing does while being 1000000x more comfortable. I started putting H on my back when he could sit for maybe 10 seconds? But only did it when someone else was there to watch.
FWIW, if you enjoy babywearing generally, front carry is really hard on your back and shoulders I feel. The líllébaby is capable of it (as is the Beco I had post-mommy con last year), and it was just really awkward and I couldn't imagine wearing Thor for more than a few minutes front carry. :/
I'd try out a front carry ssc if that's what you want to do first before investing in it. There's the Babywearing International group in Seattle (and other areas) that has a rental program. You pay 25 dollar membership and get access to their library of wraps and carriers.
Even H at 18lbs is getting uncomfortable on the front. And inconvenient lol.
I wear j on the front a lot (having in), but we back carry with SSC (boba and tula) or hip carry with RS when we/he want him to see more. If we want him to see forward we just pop him out. You probably won't want to outward face longer than that, anyway. Hip dysplasia won't be caused by a carrier, but it can aggrivate an existing case. The bigger issues with a baby the age of yours are overstimulation and comfort. Also, there's a Seattle chapter of babywearing international that has a lending library and meets regularly. I'm sure they have all the carriers you are considering. Here's the fb group:https://m.facebook.com/groups/384681731590305?ref=bookmark
I have an older version of the Gemini but so far have never used it facing out. I use it all the time, though -- pretty much any errand we do A ends up in the Beco. Our Ergo stays in the house while the Beco stays in the car, unless we carry both kids (G still rides in the Ergo). I would've bought another Ergo but was lent the Beco.
I've always worn my kids facing inward since both mine have loved to look around past the point of getting completely overstimulated. A buries his face in my chest/neck when he's had enough, just like G used to. I don't often realize he's had enough until I notice him hiding his face.
