I took my five year old to the eye doctor last month and she had to identify Clip art type pictures they showed on a screen. One was a rotary phone. I was like I think you need to update this. He said nah, I like to hear what they think it is.
Before we ever got the weather channel, we would either look in the newspaper or call the time and temperature hotline to get the forecast.
I used to call time at like ten PM, and that way my boyfriend could call me and my parents wouldn't hear the phone ring bc it came through call waiting. Lol.
My parents were too curmudgeonly for call waiting. They thought it was rude. Ruined my life.

Our time & temp number was 776-3111. I can't believe I still remember that.
Ours was 225-8463. I remember this because it spelled "time" with the numbers. I also remember the stupid message. "Giving the current time and temperature is just one more way we're proud to serve our community!"

At the dr office yesterday, there was a little kid sitting near me looking out the windows at the people below. He exclaimed "this is so much fun!" It doesn't take much at that age!
