Yea I read the book first a while ago. They did a great job with the movie, it had this all around sad and hopeless vibe that really got me down. Worth seeing though.
Lurker here. Can't believe nobody has mentioned Beaches!! Oh, and the closing scene in Driving Miss Daisy where Hoke is feeding Miss Daisy some pie. Reminds me of seeing my mom feeding my grandpa shortly before he died. Total sobfest for me.

Everything mentioned already, lol.
Plus, I Am Legend. The scene with the dog, and his daughter's room is all preserved, and the couple dead in their apartment with the "do not open until Christmas" sign on the (twins!) nursery...omg.

I agree with many of these, especially Up! My MIL passed away after a long battle with cancer last year, and a week or so before she died, H and I went to see a "kids" movie to make us smile for a little bit. We chose Up. We were both crying so hard in the beginning, I thought we would get sick. I loved that movie so much, but I am terrified to watch it again!
Life is Beautiful - I saw one person mention it but it's one of the saddest movies I've ever seen Philadelphia Stepmom! Pear Harbor ("no, you are") :-( Castaway Brokeback Mountain Steel Magnolias Up
I was just reminded of this: Return To Me is sort of a hokey movie overall, but the scene where the dog keeps waiting at the door for the dead wife to come home? Sobbing.
Omg YES! And the beginning where it jumps back and forth between David Duchovney and the grampa praying and that fucking music?!?! "Cara Mia, te amo"... ::sniffle::
Okay, so I have to admit I've never even heard of My Life but I just put it in my Netflix queue. Is this truly a Saturday night, bottle of wine, pint of ice cream and box of tissue kind of movie? If so I don't want to watch it on a Monday night or anything!
Also, there was a preview for a new Dustin Hoffman movie the other day where he is a quadripalegic and a french bad ass kind of guy becomes his caregiver. OMG. I cried through the entire preview. A f-ing preview!
Damn pregnancy horomones....
You should see the original French movie (last year) : Les Intouchables. It made me cry, but also laugh. It's really good.
