Ok, so they did a CT scan and the scan showed no fluid in the ventricles. They tried to flush the drain one last time, but nothing was coming out so they decided to pull the drain. The way they're looking at it is that her body was ready sooner than the original 5 day plan since the ct scans were clear. So they will just wait and see and plan for a MRI tomorrow. I think her surgeon does rounds around 5 so I'll get to talk to her then. The nurses seem to think that since the ct is clear chances of her needed a shunt are smaller.

Oh my gosh, K, I missed the whole post somehow all day. I am so glad that as uncertain and scary as it began, it got much happier and optimistic by the end. I marvel at your strength and your advocacy for E. I am still praying so hard she can avoid the shunt. She is a miracle, through and through. Love you!

Yay!! Sorry, I haven't been around and missed a lot.
Your first post made me wonder if the drain was clamped somewhere and no one noticed that it was. Except E was acting normally, which wouldn't be the case if fluid pressure was building up.
Her vents being normal looking and the drains not draining for hours and getting pulled without issues are great signs that she won't need a shunt!!
