HoneySpider Thanks for the overview. I'd rather be around people who make a mistake and get beyond it than people who are constantly snarky and rude anyway!
Still think this is the friendliest board - and if being too friendly is an insult, insult me all you want.
my randoms: 1) I love Kevin Spacey's voice. both comforting and creepy at the same time.
2) I'm researching the poop out of a new vehicle for me. my little blue Toyota is about to die (at 200K miles and it's only 10 years old), plus it only has 2 doors and I need 4 now. I'm between a Kia Sorento (DH used to have one and it was great, and they're getting better every year), a Nissan Pathfinder, a GMC Arcadia, and maaaaayyyyybe a Toyota Highlander or 4Runner. I think we'll end up with the Sorento because we can get all the fancy stuff for the best price and it has the best gas mileage of all those mentioned.
pooh8402 I really love the Arcadia. My mom has it and it drives great. However, H is trying to push me to the chevy equinox because it's a little less expensive.
Big snowstorm is supposed to hit starting this afternoon, so running some errands and going to lunch with my sis shortly, then staying in the rest of the day! Then again, with how the forecasts have been lately, it could be 60 and sunny later as well... ha!
Random: On the MMM board, there is a thread about what boards people frequent and impressions of them, and I posted that WC is the friendly board. Someone else responded that we are "too friendly." :\ Yet another reason why I don't comment much on other boards (except GP and occasionally MMM). I've gotten comments like that on other boards several times.
Some people on MMM don't like the fact that we accept jjwritergirl on our board because, you know, she's a total asshole
If liking jjwritergirl is wrong...I don't want to be right!!
jjwritergirl so sorry about the IL drama. Anyone giving you a hard time can suck it!
I also had an older highlander that was smaller (car axis, two rows of seats). It was my first car. I loved that thing! We've had good experiences with our Toyotas.
TBH I have a crappy memory and don't really remember what all of the drama was about with jjwritergirl. If I'm not mistaken, she was raised in a social setting that didn't find a particular word offensive. People on the board were pissed when she used it, she apologized, and used it as a learning experience. How are you supposed to fault someone for not being exposed to certain things? The important thing is that she grew from the experience. I think that concept is harder to grasp for people who didn't grow up in conservative parts of the country where being homophobic, etc. might not be frowned upon.
