When my kids make really annoying noises, I mimic them until they stop. I've had 100% success with this tactic so far. Once they finally stop making the sound because they hate me making that sound too, I tell them "See how awful that sound was, let's never make that sound again, TYVM"

I've actually already started doing this with V, but she just thinks it's funny.

That's part of the point. They either get annoyed with you, or they think it's hysterical. Either way, they stop the awful noise.

Weenie, I just started doing this right now... it works but then she starts up again.

You have to keep doing it. I had to pull this out when my son was whining on the potty. He woke up very crabby (and wet the bed), and was screaming. After several screams, I finally got him to laugh.
