Our dog is a con artist who figures out how to get anything that's toxic. Once he just straight up drank a margarita out of a glass a friend left next to their chair. He's ten and in good health.
My last dog drank a whole margarita someone put down on the floor at a party. He then passed out on his bed and peed the bed. (This was before he was my dog). That dog would eat or drink anything! Including my underwear, a whole chocolate cake, dirty diaper, tennis ball and a disposable razor (not the blade thank God). He ate a fucking tennis ball

When Lola was 4 months old, she climbed onto the couch when I left the room and was snout-first in my cosmo. She slurped up half of the glass before I caught her. 8 years later, she's still here, annoying the fuck out of me.
From my understanding, grapes are toxic for some dogs but not others, but there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to which dogs will have problems. The main symptom of toxicity is sudden onset kidney failure. If your dog is drinking a lot and peeing a lot, he should be fine. If your dog is drinking a lot but his urine output doesn't match his intake, get him to a vet ASAP. Also, they don't know what it is in grapes/raisins that causes the toxicity, so there is no way to say with certainty that wine wouldn't cause the same reaction in some dogs.
I hope everyone who is laughing and saying it is fine because their dog has had alcohol without problem reads all the way to the end. The alcohol is not the problem, it's the grape itself that is toxic to some dogs. give your dogs all the cosmos, beer and margaritas you want but keep the wine away.
My mom's dog always had grapes (we didn't know they were bad for dogs). She lived until she was 12, I think. Although she died of kidney failure, which was caused by all the grapes, apparently.
That is to say, it takes a lot of grapes over a long periods of time to cause harm. So if your dogs get into the grape juice or wine accidentally, or eat a few grapes before you move them out of the way, they'll be fine. They're not going to die overnight.

This is completely false. Not all dogs have the sensitivity to grapes. Your dog obviously did not. Dogs who ARE sensitive, will, in fact, die in 24-48 hours if not treated. Chocolate, salt and onions are all toxic gradually for dogs (it needs to build up in their system, either a small quantity but ingested repeatedly over time or a large quantity all at once. A one time small quantity should not have any effect.) Grapes are not at all the same. One grape is enough to get a reaction out of some dogs.

Then I was misinformed by the dog's vet.
Yep, you were. Although this is a fairly recent finding. If your vet is old school or you are talking about an incident that happened a while ago, then your vet probably didn't know.

Yes, this occurred about 10 years ago, and very old school doc.

My little asshole dog loves liquor AND grapes (though I would obviously never give her either willingly) and has a tendency to get into anything bad for her. She's still goin' strong so I'm sure your guy will be just fine.
