M's newborn session was $225 I think, it included the rights to the images. Session was 2 hours in the photographer's home studio. It also included family pics.
We did. It was $300 for the session. She came to our house and was here for a few hours. That also includes a digital gallery with download and printing rights.
I'm so glad we did it. Nothing we took, even with the "good camera" comes close, plus I think the ones of the three of us are amazing.
The woman we used did my friend's wedding, but actually specializes in family photography. I looked at some others, but I liked her style a lot, and it was pretty cheap comparatively. We actually used her for maternity pics and got a bundle where we get sessions at 6 months and a year as well.
We did the hospital photography and were really happy with how they came out.
We had brought our own hat for DD to wear home, and MIL brought a newly knit blanket to the hospital, so both were used as props for a more personalized touch vs. the standard white/pink/blue blanket and hat.
I still wish I had some notice before the photographer came so I could have gotten showered, my hair washed, and a bit of makeup on, but now I know for next time
We didn't get any because they were going to be so expensive ($500 plus) and I regret it all the time. So I would HIGHLY recommend doing them, even if they cost a ton.

I didn't with my first, we did DIY at home with our DSLR and it was pretty stressful. I did get what I wanted though. This time I convinced DH it was worth the splurge so we can get a family picture and sibling pics, which I know I I would not be up to doing. Were paying $500 and it includes her coming to our house and a CD of all the digital images.
We did. It was 135 dollars for the session in the photographers home studio with a CD of prints with print release. Then I bought an 11x14 print from her for 15 bucks. Our session lasted 2.5 hours and I love the photos.
We did newborn sessions at home for both our boys. The first was more expensive than the second. I love the photos from both and have the photos hanging in my living room. It's amazing how much the babies changed in just the first few months.
I don't regret spending money on it. I'm not skilled enough to take the types of photos they took, and though we took plenty ourselves the first few weeks, I still prefer the professional photos.
No, we did not do it. No regrets whatsoever. My sister was visiting and took some pictures of our day to day moments with her "good" camera. Good enough for us. We're not into professional photography at all. The pictures all look artificial and everybody looks pretty much the same, if you ask me.
Except for your baby! All those other babies on her website blur together, but mine stands apart from the pack. lol
Actually, I was flipping through the photos in the other thread on the app and recognized E. So I went back into the main one to make sure I was right, and sure enough. Guess she makes an impression.
We're using the extra session that was part of our wedding package from 3 years ago, but I think he normally charges close to $500 (that includes a disc of the edited images). H wanted to wait and use the session closer to 6 months when he's more active, but I know I would regret not having the newborn photos. We'll very likely end up doing a 6 month and 12 month shoot as well.
