Got my 20% off ULTA coupon!

I received it and was excited until I saw it was only 10% for prestige. 20% off all the other stuff isn't a big deal, either. If you plot your purchases correctly, you can use the regular $3.50 off $10 coupons to get better deals.

While I'm being all sunshine and roses, did anyone else get the UD email that they've now turned the UD primer into a doe foot application rather than a squeeze tube?? I'm so thankful I bought backups of the squeeze tube because a doe foot applicator is just wasteful.

Mine is 20% on prestige too and one salon service.   I just happen to have a hair appointment scheduled there on Saturday. 

I need to work on my shopping list. I know I am getting 2 UD lipsticks to replace the minis I lost. Maybe some shampoo and hair dye. I have lots of points to redeem so free stuff!

It's kind of genius. We all know when the Sephora sales are coming so we wait for them rather than buying stuff impulsively and stock up on stuff. With Ulta I buy as I go and then when I get a coupon I go in and buy even more stuff.

It pisses some customers off and alienates them but I suspect it leads to more $ for them in the long run.

ETA: Wait, it says 20% with only restrictions on fragrance, and some other products, but not prestige in general. Nothing here says 10% for prestige.

What's the shape of the new packaging? The squeeze tube was the "new" packaging. They originally had the doe foot applicator and it came in a "genie bottle." It was awful and wasted so much product. Youtubers had all these videos about cutting it open and scooping out the product. It was dumb. I hope the new packaging is like nars (not that I will buy it now anyway since nars is my favorite:)

And Ulta's exclusions is what keeps my $ at sephora. They know a sephora sale is coming up. Why not send everyone a great discount and take our money before the sephora sale even begins?

I knew about the genie bottle controversy but I didn't realize that was a doe foot as well!  Shit.

Similar shape to the old design, but with a doe foot.  It looks as though they still sell the old style in a double pack.  




I already have two brand new tubes waiting for me thanks to a sale, but I'm damn tempted to buy another 2-pack in case these things become extinct altogether.

Fuck it. I'm going to do a live chat with UD and ask them if the new design is squeezable.

ETA:  According to the rep, the tube is squeezable.  She also used some fancy, multi-word term for the doe foot that would have confused the hell out of me if I didn't already know what she meant.

Thanks for the info. When they first changed the packaging, the squeeze tube came in a professional size. It was double the size of what it is now and obviously double the price. Even with daily use mine dried up way before I was half way done. I was pretty upset. All of this to say, I don't know if you should buy in bulk or anything in case they dry up.

Haha spoken like a true make up addict. It probably can survive. I just had to share my experience with you, don't want you wasting your money just in case. It took me a long while to go through a tube of that primer even with daily use. Nars has the for foot applicator and I don't feel like I am wasting any product.

I was actually really bummed when the Primer Potion switched to a squeeze tube -- I preferred the doe foot applicator.

As for stocking up, I really think an unopened tube would last for several years without drying up.

I have no Ulta coupons of any sort.

I think I read once somewhere...I think it was comments on a blog post so I will never be able to find it again...but that Ulta gives out coupons based on the districts where the stores are located based on some sort of formula. Coupons are sent out to help lagging districts meet sales targets. That's why they are so random.

It has always seemed to me like Ulta still considers itself as a brick and mortar store first, and its web presence is really just an afterthought. It's coupon approach based on physical stores, not on national sales, definitely fits in with its outdated thinking.
