I also really like the NARS look the best. I was surprised reading the article that her favorite look was MAC. I personally felt it almost made her look more masculine, I can't quite put my finger on why.
I think it's the heavy brows. Holy crap that's a pretty heavy brow definer.
I liked Nars and BB the best.
Lancome was by far the worst. I couldn't even get past the foundation to notice anything else. She looks like an oompa loompa.
I once went into a Benefit store to get some of their foundation, because I really like it. They have 9 shades. I was told I needed #4 in the range. Actually, the one that is closest to my skin tone is #1. I could maybe see if they suggested #2. Or if there were 50 shades in the range and they suggested one that was three levels darker. But WTF.
Sephora did the same thing to me. The stuff they suggested for my skin was so, so dark on me.
I think most of these MUAs just have no idea how to color match foundations.
I actually like the UD, although not really a natural look. I also like the Clarins, but the picture is not as close up as the others, so kind of hard to tell. Most of the foundation colors look awful on her.
I never clicked on the link and just realized she actually wrote about each makeover. Now I'm going through the comments and some of them are funny or interesting and responsive to questions I've long had.
"As a MUA in training I stood and watched the artists work in Debenhams deciding if I that's what I wanted to do with my qualifications when I was done ... Benefit were the worst for mismatching foundations and for taking the foundation down onto the neck. MAC are the worst at customer service and Urban Decay used to turn out the most "just left the circus" looks."
"Those who are complaining about the foundation colour (yes granted some weren't fantastic), I've worked for 3 counters in 2 different department stores and the lighting in these stores is absolutely horrendous and even for a highly skilled artist can make it extremely difficult to match a correct foundation colour especially when her final shots are taken in natural light. Don't be so quick to shoot down or complain about makeup artists!"
"The natural look is obtained by... Makeup? I don't get it." (LOLOLOL)
There are also comments about people naturally having faces that are different colors than their necks. (angel) The outrage in the comments over the bad foundation matches is hilarious.

which is why I've had more than one MUA take me outside with foundation samples on my face, to see what they look like in natural light. It takes 2 minutes, it's not that hard.
