Go to Hawaii for 10 days using points to pay for all our air and hotels
or we s can
go on 2 -7 days vacations to most any other island using points
it is a special birthday for me this year...
i have NEVER been this confused about a vacation before and i keep flip flopping as soon as we make a decision i change my mind a few hours later...im driving my h and all of you crazy!
Personally, I think Hawaii is overrated compared to the Caribbean. But I also think that your location plays into it. I'm an East Coaster, so the flight to Hawaii is a big part of the turn-off for me.
Yep, and that is one of the hesitations...the long flight. I am also on the east coast. BUT we have been to the carribean soooo many times already and to about 5-6 different islands.

I voted 2 seven day trips because:
1. Like pp I live east coast and am glad we did Hawaii once, but damn that was a long flight. 2. 10 days means more than a week off work plus landing and rushing back to the office vs. having a day or so for laundry, groceries, etc. 3. Already went to Hawaii and while of course I didn't see it all, I'm very "what's next" about travel.
But seriously - bottom line? I don't see how you can really pick wrong between two awesome (and pretty much free) options.
Have you ever been to Hawaii? If you have never been, I would go there just to experience something new since you have already done the Caribbean so many times. 7 days in the Caribbean is a bit too long but 10 days in Hawaii (between at least 2 islands) is a bit rushed imo.
Travelling to HI from the east coast is tough there are so many great places in the carribbean I would do 2 - 7 day trips. Doing HI from the east coast I recommend at least 2 weeks.

I'd pick 2 vacations, but only b/c that's 14 days over 10.
As for Hawaii vs Caribbean, I'm from the east coast and now live in Hawaii. My parents are still east coast. They'd prefer to come out here over going to the Caribbean regardless of the flight length. In my mom's case it's because she gets depressed by the poverty in the Caribbean, and people hawking pretty braids for the pretty ladies.
My dad and I don't have strong feelings on which one's better. I think in general I prefer Hawaii, and I definitely prefer it over most of the popular cruise stops (St Thomas comes to mind), but I love places like Old San Juan or Guadeloupe.
I don't ever stay at resorts, though, if that perspective makes a difference.
