I'm trying to add in more exercise for both weight loss as well as for the impact on insulin; apparently 30 min a day of moderate exercise, regardless of weight loss, can decrease insulin resistance by a significant sum, plus the increase in muscle mass as well does something similar.
Regular exercise really can make a difference. When I went for bloodwork this January, after working out regularly (30 - 45 minutes a day, 4 - 5x week) for the longest stretch in my life (about 6 - 7 months at that point), my blood sugar had dropped by 15 points, and my HDL had increased by 10 points. I had also been eating better, and I had lost about 15 lbs., but I've eaten better before, and I've been at this weight before, and neither has ever resulted in changes that significant.
Since you're diabetic, I think regular exercise is a definitely worthwhile endeavor, even if it's not directly responsible for a ton of weight loss. And seeing that kind of improvement, not just weight loss but bona fide health improvement, has kept me motivated to exercise more than just weight loss ever has, because I don't want this trend to reverse.
If you're into dark chocolate it can help take the edge off. I allow myself 85% dark chocolate and berries. I also love grapefruit. Dark chocolate is low in sugar and high in fiber. I eat it daily.

This is really great SueSue, strong work.
I've been cutting out carbs for a little over 2 weeks and have lost about 8 lbs. And like miso, that is without exercising.
I have cut back on sugar, but haven't cut it out. Maybe one day I will, but for now I'm focusing more on cutting out things like wheat, pasta, rice, etc. Small steps
For anyone looking for a good really dark chocolate, Trader Joe's 85% is really good. 85% is normally too dark for me, but this has a fruitiness to it that takes the edge off the bitterness.
Today: a sausage/egg/cheese casserole serving. (this particular brand of sausage is natural and has no sugar or other sweetening ingredients; the cheese and egg obviously have none.)and a bowl of steel cut oats with blueberries for flavor, about a quarter cup, and about an eighth of a cup of milk.
Talk to me, please, about your sausage/egg/cheese casserole. Do you have a good recipe? Does it keep/reheat reasonably well? I'm interested in a delicious, high protein, easy-peasy breakfast option.
ETA: Also, strong work. This is hard stuff. And go you, lifting weights!
