Does NOT sell out - at least based on this year.  My H & I were debating dropping to the half the night before at the expo.  There was still plenty of room in both races & the option to drop.

OK - stupid question. Charleston isn't super unsafe, right? I know that what has happened this week could have happened anywhere, but I live in a country where not even the police carry guns, so the thought that people get given guns as birthday presents is really alien. Put my mind at rest?

When I think of unsafe US cities, charleston does not come to mind. We will be a group and I don't foresee safety being an issue. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

It's as safe as any American city. I don't hesitate to travel there with my kids. The area that we are going to be staying in is more like a beach resort, but even downtown in fine.
