The great 2012 exodus

I am pretty convinced that this forum is superior, what are everyone else's thoughts?

i am done with the nest. the only boards i really went on were P&ce and multiples in the past few months... so if even just a few stay over here- I'm fine with that. Would much rather stay here then go back to their BS.

I agree that this forum is better in terms of functionality, but I'll be surprised if it lasts. I've seen The Nest go through maybe 4 major "conversions" and they've seriously fucked up every one of them, and every time, alternate boards have been created. I admit this is the biggest round of fuckery and this alternate board is the largest exodus I've seen, so it's possible that this will stick...but I doubt it.

this is different than the other times people left... now they have fucked with us/the nest in ways like never before - making it easy to click posts through to FB, putting crap on Pinterest, etc.... that is what made my NJ board go.... and if this becomes private it will create a safer place for people to voice opinions, without having to worry about MSNBC using clips of our posts in articles, etc

Going private will be the death of of this set of boards, though--the only reason this works is because so many people from several boards have come over and it's open to everyone. If we lose the openness, these boards will die, just like all the other alternate (and private) alternate boards before it.

I agree, we have to stay public for this to really be another nest like environment.

I think this blows the Nest out of the water - the functionality is way better, it's easier to use, there's more features, it's easier to use on a mobile device, the app kicks ass. I hated the 2008 Nest change, so I'm really hoping this exodus sticks.

I agree with keeping this public and open though - I think making the boards private will invite it to a slow death. I was part of local Nest board spin off that went private, and it absolutely died after a couple years.

The new version lets you sort by latest thread or latest reply. It's supposed to roll out sometime this year. They're in the 3rd phase of testing (open beta).

You hear that Nest?? Other websites actually TEST THEIR UPDATES before they roll them out.

My local board switched over and so did the cooking board and I love it. The only weird feature that takes some time getting used to is the bump feature. when someone replies to a post it bumps it back to the top of the page if you click on new posts. I have not really used the search so I can't say much about that.

One more thing these boards are private you can post a business and they can not be searched for. And if need be you can curse.

My local Nest-exodus board is going strong. I hope the same happens here. I think maybe once a week, someone different should go to the nest and post the link to this board.

There is a drop-down "forum jump" box at the bottom of the page. You don't even have to scroll up to get to the forum you want!

This is where I'm at. As of July, I will have been on TK/TN for 10 years (shaddup!!). I've seen all sorts of "upgrade" fuckery and consequent spin-off boards. I even joined one for a full year and managed to abstain from The Nest that entire time. Everyone I know eventually went back.

I am hopeful this new site sticks but I will not be surprised at all if we all eventually wind up back at home base.

I'm in the minority - I'd want to go back if they get their act together. I enjoy when random people show up and post silly things, and I don't think that would happen here as much (if at all). There's less of a chance of getting fresh blood in here.

Despite (or maybe because) of the fact I work in a music studio surrounded by technology, I loathe technology lol. It took me 4 years to get onto Facebook. I think 4 days to get here was pretty swift for me lol.

I thought this at first, but the fact that there are over 1500 users + guests gives me hope.
