Jim Bob is probably now regretting this statement:
According to a 2002 campaign website attributed to the former Arkansas House Representative, it was his position that "rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes."
I refuse to click on any Duggar related stories and read them. Unless the title makes it clear they are not supporting them. Really the only way they go away is if people stop 'supporting' the stories and interviews that are coming and their shows.

But he really doesn't see his son as a pedo. Only those scary gay people who lurk near public restrooms and pounce on little girls. Not his good Christian son who just made a mistake!
They are seriously MAJORLY divorcing the two in their minds.

There is a very interesting post related to this. It's called the Two Boxes theory and IMO, really sheds some light on why you have so many fundamentalist Christians declaring this hypocrisy and defending the Duggars.
Essentially fundamentalists see sex through Biblical lenses. Because "God forbids gay sex, pedophilia, bestiality, premarital sex, etc." they're all on the same level. If someone "repents" and no longer engages in the "behavior", then they are forgiven and everything's cool, man. So they think that those of us who are rightfully appalled at what Josh Duggar did are hypocrites because, wow, we're totally fine with the gays having sex, but are coming down so hard on Josh Duggar. Clearly we're just against Christians.
But more reasonable people see things from a consent versus non-consent perspective. Sex between two consenting adults is fine. Sex that involves non-consenting individuals is not.
Because the two groups are viewing things from these two completely different perspectives, it's hard to show the fundies where they're going wrong with their line of thinking.
NY Daily News says that the trooper is refuting Jim Bob's story and he was told of only one incident, not five (which I find somewhat more believable than he would turn his back on FIVE incidents, ya know?) plus more details on the DHS investigation.
