Why is it necessary to perpetuate the thought that being public, they must feel shame? THEY didn't do anything wrong. Maybe it's possible that they feel relief. They don't have to hold this bullshit secret in anymore. That maybe they aren't seen as the wrong-doers anymore. Ugh, I am not putting that into words very well. I just hate that they are terminally victimized & repressed, and that they need to just stay that way. Ugh.
I have NO idea what you're trying to say here. Who are they?
They being the girls. Sorry.
I just read things like what Stellas is writing (not just her) saying it shouldn't be public, they didn't ask for it. I am sometimes horrible with putting thoughts into words. Obviously. Sorry.
I'm not defending him. A 14 year old knows what he is doing. He has irreparably altered his sister's lives and minds.
I guess I'm just wondering what the public outcry will accomplish outside of forcing his sisters to live it all over again. He can't be prosecuted for it now.
Hopefully, the Duggar sisters/victims will realize or finally feel validation if they already realized that this abuse by Josh and the handling of it by their parents, the church and the police officer was wrong. His abuse was not something they could cover up or put a forgiveness band-aid on. Their parents decided to carry on like a perfect family and to make money off of this image. These girls were exploited over and over, and I hope they all get the help they need.
I've never seen the show, but don't they have lots of other families in and out of the compound? Travel to conferences and things like that? I bet there are more victims. I bet people start to talk.

You may be reading into what I said?
I never said that this should not be public. I said that it must be very difficult for them. A national stage is something that most of us have never had to deal with.
You are correct in pointing out that we have no idea how they are dealing with this.
Why would a family with this skeleton in the closet do a reality show??
Probably because they honestly didn't think it was an issue. They "dealt with it," the girls are basically trapped so no fear of them running off and interacting with non-fundie heathens and figuring out how fucked up this really was, and everything was tied up with a pretty little bow.

I think he should still be able to be prosecuted. Most sex abuse laws wait till minor reaches majority and some require awareness that act was abuse before SOL begins to toll. So maybe?
That family is rolling in money. I don't feel bad for any of them. His wife knew about it and married him and procreated. Lots of young girls to tempt her husband.
And maybe families with a child molester shouldn't make a living telling gay people and transsexuals that they are perverts who are going to hell.
I don't understand not feeling sorry for any of them. Yes, the girls have money now, but they're still living with the fact they were victimized by both their brother and their parents.
I didn't mean his sisters. I meant his wife and his parents. But I can see how my post seemed otherwise. I obviously feel horribly for them. They are victims. His parents and wife are enablers. He is a predator.

No, not you. Here, other places. I'm not calling anyone out, really. Just (badly) voicing an opinion.

Hmmmmmm. I think JJ de friended me on FB. I only friend GBCNers I have met in person. We were FB friends after meeting at a bigger GTG. I can't see her listed anymore. I just went through my list 3 times and don't see her.
Has anyone been successful getting on the freejinger site? I wanted to see what was being said over there, and for the last hour it won't come up. May be too much traffic right now

I'm on it on my phone. The (second) thread on this is now 21 pages.

Yes, although I ran into some errors here and there.
It looks like there has been a request to destroy the police file, which confirms that one of the victims is still a minor- the then 4 year old sister
Wow, 4 yo, that is just sick.
For a family that was so shielded from TV/Media/Magazines, how on earth would a 14 yo boy even know what to do? You would think they would know right from wrong x10 and I wonder if he himself had been touched before inappropriately as a young child… and that has yet to come out…?
And my guess is TLC keeps the show b/c everyone likes it but Josh & Anna are no longer ever on the show….

Huh?
A 14 year old who has been repeatedly taught the "dangers" of the human flesh and absolute male dominance can figure out how to molest.
The Duggars are ignorant as all hell about, you know, evolution and basic human respect and boundaries, but they're not stupid.
