"Comparison is the thief of joy." - Theodore Roosevelt.
It seems like you've gotten past this, but I don't think this person would go out of their way to hang out with you if they thought you were just some boring, snooze fest.

Had family over to suburban avg home last night, we laughed and talked, the kids played together....average is really awesome! And I checked my Facebook and Twitter account, still no blue check;)
A verified account. So if you're a public figure they confirm it's really you somehow (I don't actually know how they do it).
Damn! Now that I am aware of it, I realize how many of my friends have blue checks. That does not make me feel average, however. It just feels like I keep good company.
Sometimes I'm jealous of my FB friends and their international travel, because I had wanted a career living overseas. I'm content with our life now, but I still have pangs when I see all the cool places they get to go.
I would love to do more international travel, but with two kids in daycare and a mortgage it's not in the budget. Someday we'll be able to go with the kids. Not as much as if we were DINKs.
I'm still dying to know who it was making eggs in your kitchen.
I've never been embarrassed of how "average" I am. I really wouldn't say average, though. I'm more just boring. I'm perfectly content with just coloring and watching TV for hours. How boring is that?
I also hate the "what's new?" question. Because nothing is ever new even when there's something new. For some reason, I can never answer that dumb question. The answer is usually, "oh nothing new, just been working," because I can never seem to think of anything.
