Like all of Texas to choose from? Personally I'd avoid the hill country because I'm horribly allergic to cedar. And not west Texas. I like Houston metro area.

I used to travel for work to Texas a lot. My dream was to meet a Texan and live in a cookie cutter house in Southlake. I would shop in the little quaint Main Street and be a lady who lunches.
Well, I live just north of Austin and so far it's ok. Except for the part where I'm apparently horribly allergic to cedar plus whatever has been making me miserable for the past 6 weeks (I assume mold - it's been raining basically the whole time). We moved here for "cheap" real estate (coming from the Bay Area) and tech jobs. And we like hot weather, though both of us get SAD and it's been surprisingly bad here. Because we don't live in Austin proper the politics are a little more conservative than we'd like, but it hasn't been an issue socially.
Yes that's it! Woodland hills is in CA. I wish I lived in Texas now.
We almost moved up there but the commute would be just awful for DH so we picked a suburb in West Houston. So far I love it even though it's not as wooded as The Woodlands.
Well I live in San Antonio and I don't plan on moving anytime soon so I say that. I would not want to live in Houston unless I was in the Woodlands or something. I have lived in Austin and it just wasn't home to me.
While I see why SA wouldn't appeal to everyone, I think if you are judging it by the Riverwalk and touristy downtown crap you aren't giving it a fair shake.
My best friend is from the woodlands and based on her lifestyle and her friends it seem very stepford. It's basically my dream city haha! But she loved it and talks about how much she misses the food and culture and how you can travel anywhere from Houston.
But if you're a raging liberal you should look at Denver
Austin, because it's where I am. I moved to Dallas 15 years ago, from the west coast. It was fun at the time, but I wouldn't go back. Too much concrete, traffic, and repressed conservatives. Not everybody is like that, but enough for me to not want to go back. I lived outside of El Paso for awhile. It was okay, but not great. I guess I'm neutral on it. I wouldn't want to live in Houston, although I really like to visit for the museums and stuff. There's a lot of coolness out there and the Woodlands area is really pretty. The traffic is rough though, and the homeschooling community is not the kind my family meshes well with. San Antonio would probably be my second choice of where to live in TX, but that's mainly due to being close to Austin.
I don't even know where to post an intro here! I was on TK/TN/TB since 2003, mostly local boards. I was m_and_m.
"I speak without reservation from what I know and who I am. I do so with the understanding that all people should have the right to offer their voice to the chorus whether the result is harmony or dissonance. The worldsong is a colorless dirge without the differences that distinguish us, and it is that difference that should be celebrated not condemned." -Ani Difranco

Sidenote, did yall get any tornadoes? We're at the coast but I saw the weather alerts.
The weather is insane right now! No tornados but we have had warnings. The city is quite literally flooding. H's cousins came in for a weekend of heat and sun and this is what they got.
