I stopped saying things about Baltimore online because I found that I was not thinking things through and it was making me look like a dummy who didn't think things through. Buhhhh....

I thinks this is more a confession, and not even the "flameful" variety IMO. If you had something to say about the rioting in Baltimore but nothing to say about the shit that went down in Waco I'm side eyeing the hell out of you. Speaking generally, unless you of course fit the criteria.
I have plenty to say about both but I really feel like these conversations are too nuanced and in depth to have on the internet. I have lots of friends who can say pithy one sentence zingers about these events but I just can't.
I get really frustrated when people take the attitude that not saying something on facebook means I don't care. *Obviously not saying that at you. Just thinking out loud.*
I get if people decide not to have that conversation on the internet. I talk about it here but not on FB because I'm not very active there, and it would be like preaching to the choir.
My side eye is reserved for people to chose to tsk tsk the rioting/protesting in Baltimore, while remaining silent on the events in Texas. Especially since only one of those instances involved casualties.

Here is my pic. I soooo cannot paint so I'm impressed. It's on my bathroom wall. However it sucked, because I had just found out I was pregnant with Zoey the day before and I was pretending to drink, and I was sober.

Confession: I'm not totally clear on what happened in Waco. I know what happened in Baltimore because that's where I am. Was there a backlash after the Waco shootings? Did the police shoot the bikers in Waco (because that's what I heard just this weekend)?

I loved the few times I've been to a paint bar. I am not artistic at all, but DH is, so I had him fixing my mistakes. We have our couples paintings hanging up.

Oh ya, I side eye selective posters too. And, I will have those conversations here sometimes.
I'm just bitter because a particularly activist academic friend messaged me that I "needed to be using my academic social media as a platform." No. No, I don't. I use my classroom for encouraging social change. I sometimes use my blog for that purpose too. But facebook is for kid pictures, dammit!
I know thedahliharpa has brought this up before but I'll say it more in depth...
i think the random threads should stop and that if we have something to share, we should start a new thread. I feel like I am missing out on important things because I am not reading 5 pages but also I think some people feel the need to contribute to it when they really don't.
Yes!
Random thread: I am eating a great sandwich right now.

I've been asked to teach those painting parties at a winery my aunt works at and at a shop in the town where I work. I just can't bring myself to do it. I'd rather teach something where everyone learns techniques and makes the pieces individualized. I wonder how teaching drunk women would compare to dramatic teens, there might be a lot of similarities. I'd do one as a fundraiser though I think.

I went to a painting thing last spring and had a great time. It was more about doing something different with some friends then painting. We had drinks and then got some apps after. I wouldn't do it all the time but once in a blue moon, sure why not.

I very rarely read the random threads. Especially when they get to five pages and I haven't started reading yet.
I've been to wine and easel twice. The owner of Tyler's school also owns an art studio. For teacher appreciation she invited all of us teacher moms to come for free, since most of her families teach in the same town where the school is. It was fun. My paintings came out horribly awesome.
A couple people told me that starbucks new "cold brew" iced coffee is super delicious. So today I was like fine I'll give it a go. It tastes the same as their regular iced coffee but costs quite a bit more! lame

I bought some at the store because TJ was out. It tastes watered down. But it makes a nice cold coffee drink at home

I like McDonald's iced coffee myself*. Just as good, a fraction of the price.
*as long as they don't put an insane amount or cream and sugar in it.
