We've been looking for the right girl to add to our family for a few months. Finally, we found Violet- a very little (for now) Great Dane. She's doing great with our big Pyr/Lab boys and our senior dachshund even likes her. She came with the pedicure, thanks to a silly little girl at her previous home- it's surprisingly hard to remove polish from dog nails!
It's fun seeing her play with the big guys now (she's only ~13lbs at 8wo, though we seriously think she's bigger already)- her mama is 140lbs and her dad is 165lbs, so she should have a good 50+lb advantage on them eventually.
We are officially a full house again- and should probably thinking about a larger vehicle soon.
She's still so young, little and sleepy that I actually can!! Having her nap in my lap is going to bite me in the butt eventually, but, it sure is sweet now- ha!
She is adorable. So you think she is going to be 50 pounds bigger than her mom and dad? Almost 200 pounds? Holy cow !
My puppy was 12 pounds at 8wo, she's 30 now at 4 months old, if she get's that big I don't know what I'll do!
She's a lab mix.
200lbs? No way! Guessing ~50lbs on her "brothers"- our ~90lb Pyr/Lab mixes- ha, not her parents!
Those two (the Pyr/Labs) were 17 and 19lbs at 8wo, they were ~40lbs at 4mo. I imagine your girl will level out around a very reasonable 55-65lbs at that rate.
13lbs is really on the low end for an 8wo GD- likely due to her not *actually* being 8wo (no birthdate on state health certificate and it's definitely not uncommon for pups in the rural small town agricultural area she came from to "get lost" early) and a massive flea/tapeworm infection. She's up to a more average 17lbs, as of yesterday (according to my ultra accurate laundry basket scale method). LOL
Ok that makes more sense LOL. I couldnt imagine how much a 200 pd dog would eat (and poop!) I hope that's where mine ends up, her sister is 56 pds, which is higher than normal for her, and that's a good size for us. She still thinks she's a lap dog.
Heh- since this got bumped, here she is (yesterday) at barely 6mo, 79lbs, 29" at the withers.
It's hard to tell in this picture, but, she towers over Doc, who is almost exactly the same weight right now. Her ears are absolutely crazy. I'm soooo glad they weren't cropped, they are so expressive and silly! You can see that her left eye turned green!
She loves to "garden", hence the dirty tongue. There is a "race track" around the sides of the yard, poor lawn. Her most favorite thing to do (besides EAT) is play tug. Which is quite the workout lately.
