How timely. My 8 year old was pissed yesterday that I told her she had to keep her shirt on when "boys didn't have the same rule". I actually make DS wear a rash guard shirt so her argument went no where. Future nudist, that girl.
I wouldn't get upset about that rule but then again I'm very fair skinned. Our public pools all have a no street clothes rule which is arguably harsher on low income splashers.

DD (who is 5) tried to take her shirt off while we were hiking this weekend because she was hot and "boys are allowed." Even at her age, she understands the injustice, lol, but I still made her keep her shirt on.
I understand being bothered by the law, but not at the lifeguard.
Eh, I can't generally get it up for the crusade of topless women, but I do generally think the laws are sexist and stupid. I'm not going to go topless and I probably won't let my kids go topless in public by that age, but I really don't think it should be illegal.
This is a bullshit argument: "Essentially, the policy was put in place because not everyone has the same comfort levels with females being topless," said Kristene Scott, general manager of parks and recreation.
Oh really? And not everyone has the same comfort level with men going topless or women exposing their elbows and ankles either. But we come up with common standards for presentation in public.
I strongly suspect the provincial law trumps the local policy if anyone actually wanted to try to do something with this, but chances are no one cares enough to do so.
