NEVER again! Ugg! Everytime this topic has come up I have said "we have them and have no issues" well...the dishwasher leaked on our newly refinished floors and a few boards are already warped. I know they will probably flatten out once they dry but I am so upset!
If we had another choice in this house I would totally think about changing them out, but its an open floor plan and not really an option!
You would be surprised at how many posts we get just like that on the old board. The DW or the refrigerator water line leaks and destroys the HW. Both have chintzy plastic parts they aren't made to last like brass ball valves. Happens all the time. Appliances aren't made to last like they used to.

My parents lost their hardwoods twice in the same house due to problems with their Sub Zero fridge. Huge mess each time. Insurance covered it, but what a pain to have your entire kitchen/family room sealed off to contain the refinishing mess!
When we had the sink backup last year they eventually flattened back up to about 90% perfect, but we had already scheduled the floors to be refinished and they really needed it in other areas, so we went ahead and did it.
After two trips out the appliance repair guy finally figured out that it was a cracked rubber drain tube.
Fiji--I totally agree with the appliances not being as good as they used to. We have a vintage GE fridge that DH converted into a kegerator that is going strong and it has to be from the 60s.
Awww. That's a shame. It makes me feel bad because I was always one of the "we've had no issues and love them!" posters. I guess it is just a risky choice in an area with so many opportunities for water damage to occur.
That said, I'd likely have hardwood in a kitchen again. I just love how it feels underfoot. Perhaps cork would be a better choice?
