The plan is to paint the room a light grey, and then paint the bed wall a dark charcoal grey. I want to add a metallic trellis stencil ( I Know it's totally overdone on blogs, but I have never seen it in real life and I love the look!)
Has anyone made their own stencil before for tracing? I'm nervous!
Just posterboard. I will trace the patten and hand paint it. If I was going to paint over the stencil I would buy a stencil or use a flexible plastic cutting board or something like that.
We made ours. They sell the stencil material at Hobby Lobby and we cut it with an X-acto.
Our stencil had to be an exact size because we were working with existing molding. If I didn't have that constraint, I would try to find a ready made one, because they seemed to be made of thicker material. I think that would be a lot easier to work with.
Do you follow the KFD Design Blog? She has done a lot of walls like this, she mostly makes the stencils herself. Here's one that she says is a combo of stencil and free hand.
