A) How close is this restaurant to me (Michigan) B) Is he hiring? Specifically for desserts, but I can do everything and need a new job!
But for realz now...
My H is a "Youth Specialist" and a county youth facility. He tries to straighten out delinquents before the f-up too much and end up in the detention facility.
He wants to 'break into' the youth parole officer field.
There are some douchey DH's in here. I'm looking at you women who are married to (1) the wanna-be narc; and (2) the guy who dresses up even though his superiors don't because he is *so* much more professional than they are.
My DH is a lawyer. Probably a more interesting lawyer than I am. Definitely a nicer one.
All this time I've been married to a douche and was totally unaware. This is troubling.
This is my father's job as well. He is one of the best in the business. Where does your H work? My dad's company is out of the CBOE in Chicago. Is your husband as much of a goof as my dad is? We always hear stories of pranks and stuff they did to each other back when there was actually trading in the pit.

Oh yes! There are lots of mental stories from his days in the pit (about 10 years). He trades electronically now obviously and he has his own thing so things are a lot calmer. He trades out of Chicago as well. Chicago traders are a breed of their own!
CBRN NCO for the Army. Right? When he starts explaining, I forget to pay attention. I try, but that's all I've retained so far.
Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and Radiology Specialist, Non-Commissioned Officer. He's a hazardous materials handler, senior enlisted rank.
You're welcome.
My DH is another one of those damn lawyers. But to brag for a minute, he was just promoted to managing attorney of his office, which means he's one of less than 50 in the firm so he's special and senior attorneys and IT guys and other important people take his calls instead of sending him to voicemail. He's super-special because he's been with the firm only seven years (left a partnership to join the firm but without a book of business since he was crossing over.) He was recommended by the two equity partners in his office who wouldn't be considered by senior management and by his former managing attorney who is retiring. He's on the lower rungs of the partnership, one of a very select few chosen for the role, and the only one chosen for an office of his size. My DH may be an asshole lawyer, but he's a damn good (and respectable and even likeable when necessary) one. He's still not worth $12M a year though.

Definitely! My dad's been at it for 30+ years. I loved growing up around all of those guys. Some of the greatest men I've ever known. =]

My H is a graphic designer for a TV station. He also has a web comic (that is on hiatus right now.) He has been doing some projects with some other web comic people.
H is a wildlife biologist. It's like being married to Crocodile Dundee.
I had a client that did something like this for the zoos. She had a degree and everything. She generally worked with the aviary and took the eagles and falcons for exhibitions. It sounded like the coolest, most fun job ever.

Totally! My H has been in that world since he was 19. All his friends are traders, lots of blue collar corn pit traders etc. They're really great guys. Your dad and my H probably know each other

H loves it, and we've had some weird temporary pets before they go where needed. This has included coming home from work to find a baby otter in the tub, with H giving it some shrimp I had in the fridge for dinner.

Baby bison are cute too.
I would die from cuteness if I found a baby otter in my tub. I love otters.
Works at a museum in NYC. I won't say which one, but it's huge and has dinosaurs. Also a planetarium. I told him I need to meet Neil degrasse Tyson ASAP.
So jealous! This makes me think of Ross on Friends!

My dad traded corn years ago. I spent a lot of time on the floor of the CBoT as a child. It's possible they've met, and if not them, at least someone in my family. I have a few uncles, aunts, and cousins who work down there too. My brother works with my dad from home now (ah, the joys of technology) and my cousin works for my dad from an office in Hinsdale. Up until probably 5 years ago, they were in a building right around the corner from the CBOE. Another cousin worked for Goldman Sachs for years back when it was Hull Trading and actually survived the takeover. I'm so excited to find someone from the same profession as my dad. =]
IT manager on the weekdays, logistics computer specialist in the guard. Douche by Elle's standards because he won't go to work without a tie.
Also, we rarely have all of our electronics working in the house.
H dresses up for work also. Hes always worked in a professional.attire environment so when he switched to his current employer, whos very casual, he just felt more comfortable and professional. I don't think hes a douche.

No no. I am a lawyer. I am familiar with the concept of ties. It's only douchey if he wears one while his direct supervisors do not because he is evesomuch more professional than they are.
I went to law school with a guy who took final exams in a suit. He said it gave him a psychological advantage because it scared the other students. I bet there are people on this board who remember him. Biggest Douche Ever. Sadly, lost him to Harvard after just one short semester.

No, really, it is douchey to dress significantly more formally than your supervisors. In a business environment you take your cues from those senior to you. A little more formal is great. But wearing a suit and tie while they are in sweatshirts is douchey and everyone in the office knows it.
