Oh man I'm dreading this when my divorce is final.. luckily when I got married most my bills (electric, internet, etc) I left in my maiden name.. but there are a few odd bills and everything with my schooling that are in my married name that are going to be a pain in the butt to get changed when the time comes.

When I got married, I didn't change my name with anyone who required me to send them a copy of my marriage certificate to do so, so I have a couple of credit cards still in my maiden name, as well as my cell phone plan. I am thinking of getting my utilities at my new apartment in my maiden name as well, even though my name change won't go through until my divorce does. And if I ever happen to get married again, I don't know that I will change my name....just in case.
The name change process has not been easy for me but I will never change my name again. It is a good thing I absolutly love my maiden name. It breaks my heart that I have a different last name than of ds but it will resolve any further issue if I were to have another child.
I didn't think it was such a pain until I learned that to change my name on my Green Card, I have to pay $400!!! All I could think was "Fuck you Immigration services!!!!" That's seriously wrong.
I am terrified in finding out what I'll have to do for this. It will either be very easy: I can just do it at the US embassy, and then go to the Norwegian registry and update it in one place, after which it will automatically propagate to all my banks here, etc. Or it will be very hard. And I don't want to think about just how hard it could be.
when my divorce was final i was so happy to get everything changed back and got it done in record time...though i was lucky in the sense that the entire 4 years i had been married i never changed my work email (due to professional confusion) nor did i ever change my DL because i like my picture on it...
but when we get back from the honeymoon in SEP I will be in a rush to change EVERYTHING this time, including doing the passport AGAIN....
the best way for me to beat the pain of the SS and MVC offices is to get there 20 min before they open so i can be one of the first 10 in line.
