I'm not stressed out about DS's language development in general. He has a decent number of words at just shy of 13 months. However, he has no inclination to assign me a word. My H is "dad" and the dogs are "dog." But nothing for me. My H calls me mommy when talking to DS and I point to myself and say it too but so far nothing. I would be happy with any word, honestly. Do I have unrealistic expectations at this point? I know D words are the easiest for babies and M words take some time, but how much time?
It doesn't help that he seems to have a slight preference for my H.

So around 10 months he would say "mamamamama" but probably that was just him babbling. He started calling me "mom" at about 18 months. Last week, after just turning 2 (and really randomly) it's now "mommy" ALL.THE.TIME. Which is adorable but, "Mommy, fire truck! Mommy, crane truck! Mommy, dump truck! Mommy, choo choo train!" and on and on.
DD was close to two before she talked a lot (and then it was full on sentences and she hasn't shut up since). I don't even remember when she said "Mama" outright I just know she had 4264646 words before that. And I was never "Mama" or "Mommy" Lol. I've always been "Mom" to her..ha.
DS is 18 months and he said something the other day that I'm 99% sure meant "Mama" and then yesterday said "Daddy" clear as day. Little punk. His other words are "Uh-oh" "Hello" "Yama" (Llama...thanks book series) and "Keeeyy" for "kitty" so we're both still down the list a bit in the naming department.

DD is 17 months, and not saying it yet. But so far, she only says dada, cat, and that, so I'm not expecting her to say it any time soon. She does have a cry when she's upset that sounds like maaaaamaaaaaaa, so others claim that she says mama when I leave the room, but I'm not convinced she's saying mama; she cries the same way any time she's upset.

I can't really remember. I know he had 5 words/signs, barely, at 15m. Mama was not one of them. By 18m he had around 35 words, including mama. By 2 he was speaking in 3-5 word sentences with a full vocabulary.

L really started doing it when I went away for a weekend - my H said it was constantly "Mama. Mama. Mama? Mama," while she looked around for me. That was around 11 months. She doesn't do it much when I'm around, though. Her only other words are Dad, Up, and Dat (while pointing). She knows what things are, but isn't saying much yet, lol. She just smiles coyly when we try to get her to say other words. Sigh.
ETA. She mimics sounds like crazy, (clicking, growling, la-la-la, ha-ha-ha, etc.) But try to trick her into saying "Ma-ma-ma?" And she clamps her little mouth closed and then giggles like a maniac. Stinker.
Ha! He's 2 1/2, and he can say it, but it is never directed at me (to be fair, we think he is delayed with language). Yesterday, I had to basically beg him to say mama before I helped him open his tent. And then it was mamamamama, and not really directed at me. Look, kid, I carried you for nine months like a parasite, and had a 21 hour labor, and I can't get a simple mama?!
DD is almost 13 months, and we're not sure she has any words. Pediatrician wanted 1-3 words by 1 year- we told him she had 0.
She does say "mama", but I'm not sure that it means ME, you know? I think we're getting there- they said yesterday in the church nursery she was saying "mama" and looking around (for me?) so maybe she does know what it means.

He was babbling it at 10 months and using it in the correct context pretty consistently at 11 months. It has pros and cons. Much harder to ignore him when he's standing in his crib or knocking on my bedroom door yelling, "Mama! Mama!"
It was his first word at maybe around 9 months? But he didn't use it consistently for a LONG time. Well over a year. It's probably been in the last 6 months that I pick him up from daycare and he says "mommy!!!" which is the cutest thing ever.
DD started babbling it at 6 months, and now at 9 months I *think* she's using it correctly, but it's hard to tell. I mean, she generally uses it while I'm interacting with her or when she wants me, but that pretty much makes up 90% of our day.
A week shy of 8 months. I got it on video. I knew he knew it was me too because once he learned dada (not long after) he would call dada if he needed to be changed and me if he was hungry in the motn.
