No, I was pregnant with my 2nd back in 2008 by the time I joined MM.
Tried to get people to name their kids Corbin and Eleanor though. No bites yet
Eleanor was #1 on DH's list for a girl, but we needed a "C" name after my mom. If we have another girl there's a pretty good chacne Eleanor will be the winner. He loves the nn Ellie.
I have posted multiple times about the potential names for #2, all before I got pregnant. If it turns out we're having a girl, I will be back for more polls. bowies suggested one of our front runners (Seraphina nn Nina). She gets an award if we end up picking it.

Indirectly.. As someone with a name that was dated when I was born (it is very common with women in their late 50s- 60s, which I am not), I was nervous about giving DD1 a less-common name. Growing up, I hated my name and even had people ask me if I actually went by it. I didn't want DD1 to feel that way, and I was nervous about our name choice.
I felt this even more when someone on my heinous BMB on TB mocked it (not connected to my posting it). Most of my friends have chosen top-10 type names, so I didn't know what types of names were popular. Seeing the trend of less common classic names on here gave me more confidence in our choice. I think I have the only Esther on these boards, but I don't feel like her name is totally out of step here.
Nope. We wanted a non-obvious Italian or Latin name that wasn't ridiculous in English, so I had a pretty small group of names to choose from. and made a last minute decision based on our doula's feedback.
But I think people liked Luca when I brought it up on here. jewel, I just saw that's your DS' name! Obviously I think you chose the best name!
I had Lucas on my list, but my H was meh about it. He loved Luca, though, because it's Italian.
I had never heard the name in real life (non-ER life) before. He's in a baby music class now, and we've met another boy Luca, and a girl Luca! Weird.
It's funny that my preference was Hank, and we went with Luca. They are....not at all like. LOL. I do think Luca is a lovely name though.
Nope. No one knew before they were born. I am 100% positive that one of their names would have gotten the big MMM thumbs up and one the big thumbs down.

No with Dd1, we had Elle picked out for years. For dd2 I did have several polls between Lila and Mia. I was told , Elle and Lila are too much of a mouthful. I'm glad I listened because mmm was right! And DH much preferred Mia
Jack was the lowest rated in my poll (also had Ben and Will), but I went with it anyway. I did almost use Will because MM said Wilson would be an acceptable longer version of the name, but when he was born, I just felt he was supposed to be Jack. Good thing we didn't choose Ben. There are THREE in his small home daycare.
No. We used a lot of family names and never asked anyone what they thought. It was hard enough for us to agree. Especially with the girls. Twin pregnancy that is team green = a lot of name combos.

We didn't ask for opinions. Our boy name was picked early in my first pregnancy and we had a hard enough time finding a girl name we both liked, so it's not like we had many options.
I will say that when we were expecting #2, Elizabeth suddenly started sounding great to me and I think it's because there are a bunch here so I got more accustomed to it. As classic as it is, it's unheard of in my area. When DH suggested it with DD, I didn't care for it that much. But it goes well with DD's name so that could be another reason why it suddenly sounds awesome to me.

MMM didn't like my favorite girl name, but we had a boy so it didn't matter. I would have used it thigh though, probably. I liked getting opinions, but no one gave a strong enough opposition for me to not use it.

Nah. I didn't discover CBCN until January, I think it was. Heck, I didn't even participate on TB until last June.
My eldest was born almost 11 years ago. I knew before my pregnancy that I'd name her Grace Elizabeth. At the time my exH and I were super religious/fundamentalists, so the "Grace" acronym played a huge role in my decision, and also because I like classic/timeless names. Elizabeth after my childhood best friend. I added Katherine to it midway into my pregnancy, after my paternal great-grandmother.
My second daughter was named for much the same reasons. Evangeline means "good news"/message in Greek, and "Lily" from the hymn "Lily of the Valley" that was a favorite of mine back then. Marie, her second middle, is my paternal grandmother's middle name.
My first son, Duncan Lewis Garibaldi, was named after my exH's relatives, Duncan is his stepmom's maiden name. (Garibaldi is my maiden)
We decided to name our second son, Henry Allen Greyson, after the main character of a short story my exH wrote. "Allen" and "Grey" are also family names.
And Miss Ruby Matilda Rose. Ruby after my maternal great-grandmother and Matilda after the book and movie, both of which are childhood favorites. Rose after the character in Titanic. I fell in love with it on the spot.
