No for both pregnancies. I wish I would have had one with DS. I don't know if it would have improved my L&D experience any, but I don't think it would have made it worse, and maybe knowing that he wasn't completely head down in advance would have helped.
If everything had been perfectly normal, I would have only had the a/s. However, I had an u/s at 12 weeks due to spotting, then again at 38 weeks and at 39 weeks (a couple days before he was born) because the NST at 38 weeks wasn't great (I had GD so they did NSTs from 36 weeks on, plus I was having contractions like crazy starting at 36 weeks but I couldn't really feel them until maybe around 38 weeks). They were checking movement and fluid levels. So no, they definitely aren't standard where I went, but I ended up having 3 non-standard and non-elective ultrasounds overall.
Msniq got a growth ultrasound at like 34-36w? She was measuring a couple of weeks ahead and there was some concern the baby would be over 4500g. But he wasn't.
I am not counting the monthly research ultrasounds.
Yes. I had an absurd amount of ultrasounds during my pregnancy, most being after the a/s. MFM always seemed to be chasing something for one reason or another. All due to an increased nuchal fold. I'd estimate I had nearly 20. Easy.
Due to an increased NT measurement, I had an early AS at 17 weeks, then a second one at 20 weeks. I also had a fetal echo around that time because of the NT scan results. Then I had a growth scan around 31 weeks. I can't remember if that was standard or if there was a reason for it. I had a second growth scan st 35 weeks due to GD. Since I wasn't measuring big at that point, that was the last ultrasound scheduled. Plus I went into labor a week later.
Yes, for both kids. I had a few post anatomy scans with DD1 (I think growth at 32 & 37 weeks?) and a boatload with DD2 because she had an elevated risk of (only) Down syndrome on the quad screen. I took MaterniT21 at 18-19 (?) weeks with her, which determined she did not have DS, but they insisted I was still high risk because of the previously elevated quad screen anyway. I called BS on it since MaterniT21 was so much more definitive, and pushed back a bit on the need for so many biophysical profiles (weekly from 32 weeks on), but the genetic guy and my ob claimed they were "medically necessary" (though I don't think they really articulated why, except the genetic guy said "there could still be problems.") She scored an 8/8 on every single one. Truthfully (IMO) the only thing useful about them was the incidental finding each week that she remained breech.
With DD, just the day of my 39 week appointment when they realized they effed up and she was breech. (OB palpated, said head down, did internal, I was 4cm and he felt her butt) I kept saying the position seemed wrong. No one listened.
Only at my 39 week appointment with DS when I pretty much had to demand they check he was head down. OB was flippant, waved wand super quick and said 'there is the head'
So, yes, but no fun ones where I got to watch the baby or anything for more than 0.5 seconds.
Nope. My practice doesn't do then standard after the a/s, and I always measured on track, had no complications, and she determined position and guesstimated birth weight via palpation (she was right on), so there was never a need for one.
I did have an u/s at work around 35 weeks, but that was a special case. They were interviewing a new u/s tech, and wanted a pregnant woman to try her skills on. I volunteered as tribute. The weight estimate from that was also spot on.
Yes. 32 and 36 weeks I think to check size. I was measuring big. My son was big, but not medically concerningly so.
My sister was measuring small and had them starting around the same time then they found a bit extra fluid and did them until fluid was normal. Her daughter was 8lbs, so not small.
Nope, not with either pregnancy. I was totally okay with that knowing that it meant everything was measuring and progressing normally. I almost asked for a growth scan this last time because DD1 was LGA but I didn't, and DD2 was also LGA.
At the AS they thought they found an issue with her kidney so we went to a specialist twice where they did ultrasounds both times.
Once I was placed on bedrest at 32 weeks they did weekly biophysical profiles. The day before delivering at 36 weeks they did a growth ultrasound because they were concerned about IUGR.
Plus one at 10 weeks and my NT scan at 12 weeks. I think I had about 9 total during my pregnancy.
Yes because I had placenta previa during my AS, which resolved itself later. I had one before birth because I had a history of a baby with too big of shoulders so they wanted to know if they should be prepared during my RCS.

The a/s was my last ultrasound for my last pregnancy before I lost it but I would have had monthly ultrasounds after that like I had with DD due to being high-risk.
Yes 3 more. I had to have a repeat of th a/s because they couldn't see all the chambers of the heart. A growth scan because i was measuring small and then they do a standard growth scan at 37 weeks
Nope. My practice just does the anatomy scan barring any complications. So I had one total with C, and so long as this pregnancy remains uncomplicated we'll just have the one as well.
I had a ton, initially because there was concern about his short limbs and a possible kidney issue. A few because they couldn't always hear his heartbeat. Then once we found out about the DS, I had to go in 2x per week for ultrasounds to make sure he was still doing well (higher chance of stillbirth). I ended up having low fluid, so add on a few more to keep an eye on that.
