I was one of those weird girls who loved horses like woah. I reread Black Beauty and Misty of Chincoteague over and over. I was also obsessed with mermaids, and was horrified but in love with the original Little Mermaid story.
When I read through all my BSC, Boxcar Children, and Lurlene McDaniel books, I raided my mom's bookshelf in the living room (I was a latchkey kid). My favorites were Gone With The Wind and Scarlett.
I was obsessed with BSC, also read the Little Sister books, some Sweet Valley too. loved Little House books and the Rose books that were released in the early 90s about Laura's daughter. I read the Lurlene McDaniel books too, totally thought I was going to get cancer as a teenager.

The Little House books Anastasia Krupnik my mother's Cherry Ames nurse series (probably no one here has ever heard of them) and a series from the library on the Childhoods of Famous Americans -- I particularly enjoyed the one on Annie Oakley and Narcissa Whitman.
I was just thinking about this today. One of my favorite books from elementary/middle school was Say Goodnight, Gracie. I was so sad that my local library didn't have a copy.
I also read The Babysitter's Club series, Madeliene L'Engle, Beverly Cleary, and Judy Bloom a LOT.
BSC Nancy Drew (Nancy, Bess and George for life!) Hardy Boys (but not as much as Nancy Drew) Christopher Pike (that may have been more middle school though) Sweet Valley Bridge to Terabithia was one of my favorites in early elementary.

I'm sure there are more. I was a huge book nerd as a kid. I do regret never reading the Little House books though. I can't wait to read them with my kids.
Oh, and I didn't read Harry Potter until I graduated from college - so I was MUCH older than 10.

Number the Stars. I was/am a Holocaust junkie.
My heart beat for The Babysitter's Club and The Saddle Club. Sweet Valley High was just a little old for me, but I am only a little bit ashamed that I bought "Sweet Valley Confidential" (the 10 years later book) last night.

I read a lot of Choose Your Own Adventure, Encyclopedia Brown, and Ramona books. I'm also too old for Harry Potter to have been out when I was in elementary school, but I don't think my dad would have let me read it anyway because of the "witchcraft." Of course I read the assigned literature, but I really can't remember liking any of the stories besides The Diary of Anne Frank, which I was glad that I had read.

I forgot about Misty. Loved that. Was there one other one? I know I read both (or all). They blend together as one story now.
