So DS2 did this today. He refuses pacifiers and normally sucks on his fingers. Today he was laying on his bellu and put his arm up to his mouth and gave himself an arm full of hickies. Surely someone is going to call CPS on us for beating our 2 month old.
Jackson does that even now sometimes. I'm like please stop! Lol. He does it to his upper shoulder. It's weird.
Speaking of Jackson he had his first football game of the season - they do a bowl game before the season starts with all the age groups between two rival high schools. His team dominated and I'm really glad we signed him up. Not because his team won but because it has been a great experience for him. Time consuming and expensive for us, but at his age, a lot of sports are basically dominated by a few kids who are really good. But with football the whole team really needs to work together for it all to work so it's truly been a team experience for him. The kids have their roles and learn their positions - it's also a great group of kids, coaches and parents. There are even a bunch of kids around Scarlett's age for her to play with.
Despite my hesitation, I think we made the right decision and I'm really excited for him. We also bought him his own helmet to help me feel like we were doing everything we could to keep him safe if he was playing.
There's a new American Girl doll coming out in two weeks - she's from the 1950s and her whole collection got accidentally leaked online, where I saw it. It is super duper cute and if I had $1000 to spare, I would buy all the things. She has a poodle skirt! And a diner! And a jukebox you can hook up to your iPod and play music from!
ttt - I know! It's all so cute. Scarlett got Grace when we were in Atlanta because I had some things to return and their return policy is super nice... I felt bad so I just asked for store credit and let her spend it all. Anyway, that was in June, and so of course she wants lots of Grace's stuff. But Mary Ellen is really adorable.
I saw a picture of the mini doll for the GOTY 2016, and allegedly she's meant to be biracial (maybe?).
We survived a whole week on vacation without eating our children, and now that we're home we might finally lose. They are all up in our business and clingy and we are like FUCK YOU PEOPLE NO ONE TOUCH ME!!
We are having Chinese tonight because the 3 yo suggested it.

I saw that too! It totally does not look like she is biracial to me. But next year's historical doll is supposed to be a black girl from 1960s Detroit which is going to be awesome.

That IS awesome! I can't wait. Scarlett isn't super into the historical dolls yet, which is fine. She has a lot of Julie stuff because my mom's name is Julie and she went to high school in the 70s, so she's bought tons of Julie stuff for her and my niece. I really want Samantha, because that's who I always wanted, but she has no interest. I definitely want Mary Ellen and the other new one. She really has too many dolls already because my MIL looooooves the Jill's Steals and Deals.
Yeah, I showed the mini doll to MH, and he was like, "she looks like Scarlett." Granted, Scarlett is really tan right now, but it made me laugh.

I love AG and can't wait for the new dolls! We already have Iulie, Samantha and Caroline and my girls are getting into them.
Julia originally got Julie because not only is that almost her name but my mom is Julie (well, Julia legally but goes by Julie) and graduated HS in '74, the year Julie takes place.

Too funny! 1970s Julies must be fairly common haha. My mom graduated in '76 and she loves buying Julie's things. I bought a bunch of Julie stuff last year on sale and have put it up to give Scarlett at some point. She really likes all of Julie's stuff. I think because it's bright? She's a little young for fully appreciating the historical stuff.
Scarlett's favorites are the girl of the year dolls - esp Isabelle. But she's really into dance so I think that's a big part of why she likes her best. It's kind of funny but anything she gets that she thinks is cool or really cute - no matter who it is technically for - it goes to Isabelle. She's clearly the favorite, lol. It makes me laugh.

[bit definitely must have been a popular name lol! My mom is actually named after her mom and her grandma and it's my middle name too ?
Julia loves the Julie stuff and I think it's bright and also seems more familiar than the older time period clothing. She could wear the stuff herself versus it being dress up.
I do 't understand why, but Julia isn't into Isabelle. She's obsessed with ballet so it makes no sense lol!

I had six little girls in my house all at once. It looks like a tornado hit & there are footprints in the tub but everyone survived & seemed to have s good time.

Ha my mom is the same age and totally into Julie too. SST got the Julie doll for Christmas last year, and this Christmas she's getting her bed and egg chair, which we already bought when they were on sale and have stashed away. My mom went nuts over her snack set and I'm pretty sure my grandparents had this exact same owl glass for years.
I have had this major prejudice against any of the modern American Girl stuff (HISTORICAL FOREVER), but the Grace character with her baking and living in Paris, since SST loves baking and we lived in Paris last year, it won me over.
I like the modern stuff because it's got small, relatable lessons for girls and it's a nice gateway for younger girls to get interested in the brand. Like the lessons in the historical stories and all the attention to detail in the historical collections is amazing but it's nice that each year there is a new modern girl with some fun stuff and a smaller lesson/story. Granted I wish I had unlimited money for it, but I like the general idea behind it. It doesn't hurt that this year has Grace, who is one of the prettiest dolls I have ever seen. I also really liked Isabelle's story. She had to work hard and practice and gain confidence in herself. Scarlett really liked Grace's movie but I haven't watched it yet.

Julia is really into a the books and I'm strongly encouraging that because in addition to the historical content they all have good lessons! We go girl by girl through the library.

Oh my lord, BBT is obsessed with this movie. Obsessed. We got the DVD and she has watched it literally at least twenty times. It was cute the first time but let's just say that it does not exactly stand up well to repeat viewings. At least not for those of us over the age of 10. Even H knows all the words to the main song and I'll catch him randomly singing under his breath "You gotta follow every dream..."

Basically like the day I have waited for my entire parenting career is finally here, which is the day I DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR DAY CARE AGAIN. You guys. This is actually the best feeling ever. Babycakes starts first grade on Tuesday, and I'll be home for work when his school day is over and this is such an enormous weight off of my shoulders, because XH couldn't always be relied upon to transfer his portion of the fees and he quit paying the agreed upon amount and I am just fucking giddy.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
NT scan today. And eerily, I just realized, almost at the exact same date (12 weeks 5 days) as the last awful NT scan. Needless to say I'm on freaking edge.
Eta: Nope. Exact same day as last time. 12 weeks 5 days to the day.

Many thoughts your way today! I hope you have an excellent NT scan! Are you finding out gender? I'm good at predicting via NT scans if it's the side view... just offering.

Hey it's all good! Baby still chilling and healthy! Tech predicted girl based on "angle of the dangle." Whatever that means. In any case we will know for sure in about 10 days due to the blood work. Thanks so much for the well wishes!!!
