I am the worst DIL ever. I hate everything MIL cooks (though to be fair, even DH said the fish tonight was incredibly salty). My appetite sucks anyway, but even the little appetite I do have is just totally squashed by her cooking (kohlrabi in cream sauce, anyone?). I feel like an ungrateful wretch.
I'm at the airport in Venice waiting to fly home after a fabulous week long cruise in Greece. It was soooo hot but it was cool to see some new Greek islands I hadn't been to before. It was interesting as well that you HAD to have cash for anything. Absolutely no debit or credit - the shops and restaurants said that is basically useless to them now.
Also iammalcolmx not only are we flying economy, but it's on air canada ROUGE which are tiny seats and no TV's

Not ungrateful! I love MIl, really do. But she's a horrific cook and I hate having holidays with them because she won't let anyone help or bring in new dishes. I hope you find something you do love to eat as you need to!
I've recently been informed that I cannot be Raven at San Jose ComicCon and that I will be Wonder Woman. Rather than go traditional, I'm thinking more along the lines of one of these. Whatcha think?
(Yes, I put a lot of thought into my costumes.)
Why can't you be Raven? And if you are going to be Wonder Woman I see nothing wrong with going non traditional. I like the second picture.

I'm negotiating with a terrorist. Er, I mean kindergartner.

She's actually not a bad cook, she's just getting older so her tastes are changing. Like, she needs things to be super salty or spicy for her to even taste things. I mentioned this to her in the past and she's definitely changed how she cooks, I still just tend not to like her Midwest cooking lol (you forget how regional cooking can be!). I'm finding some things I like, slowly...

My mother was a top 5 worst cook ever. My MIL is also somewhere on that list. Don't feel bad for having different tastes than someone else!

You are not even. My MIL canNOT cook. Think well done prime rib and frozen corn. I cringe at the thought of holiday dinners she cooks.
Oh! and canned biscuits!
Listen, I have nothing against frozen corn and canned biscuits. But for Christmas dinner? Thanksgiving? I'll take the no thank you helping for that.

I like the second one. But What about something like this (only w/ tights)? Seems a little more badass than the typical leotard.
Also, do you come to the big ComicCon?? If so, hit me up next year!
I just realized I misspelled Liberal Arts on a document I turned in to my school. I was talking to someone while I was writing and left the "v" out of invested and the "e" out of liberal. Nice.

You guys are making me feel a lot better, thank you!

Not enough time! (or abs! lol) That's partially why I'm going low key. The tiara & bracers will take up most of the time I've got. That's what I get for assuming I could be Raven. lol
I haven't done the big one. We used to do WonderCon before they moved it down south.

I have finally gone through the dust hell that is the bottom of my closet and pulled out all my shoes. I went from 50 something shoes to just south of 10. All my lovely shoes. A few pairs I couldn't bear to part with, my purple heels, some winter shoes. I'm sure I'll have to eventually part with a few more. A couple sales and learning what I can wear and can't has helped me find a few replacements. I'll miss the stilettos/heels. Need to find a new pair of red "heels."
My great-uncle passed away a few weeks ago. In his things they found a letter than my great grandmother had written to my greatgrandfather a few years after he had passed away (he died young and left my great grandmother with three young boys) and emailed a copy to the family. It's so sad and touching - I didn't even know these people but I'm sitting here in tears.

There is an ad I get on fb all the time for a baby/toddler clothes line that just come in a rainbow of solid hues. And now I actually want to order something like that, (I need a basic green cotton dress for a costume), and I can't get that ad to come up for the life of me.

I don't understand you flying coach. I wish my H would make me do such.

I think someone posted about this on ML the other day! Is it Primary.com?

This is my MIL. It drives us crazy because her son in law is one of the best cooks I know and she doesn't let him bring anything.
Last year after we left Thanksgiving at MIL's, we chowed down on leftover Chinese food.

Nah. You're good.
My MIL is an OK cook. Not amazing, but she has a few recipes that are solid.
She gave me a recipe for something once. I think it was pot roast. Instruction 1 was to burn the meat. I clarified if she meant sear and she was like "no, I mean burn."
I just thought to myself "oh, that's why if sucks do much."

Oh my. On the bright side, your DH must think food in your house is amazing to what he grew up with. That goes to all of you with salt-filled, barely edible holiday dinners.
