kams I like A or B, mostly because you can get it all put together, cooked in one fell swoop, and then let your guests pick on what is available. I feel like every time we do burgers/dogs/etc it's like one of us is constantly manning the grill and doesn't get to be with the rest of the party.
And I'm probably craving some omega 3s because holy crap does that salmon sound freaking amazing right now.
That's sort of what I'm thinking - I hate just standing by the grill for the whole party. It's even harder with the baby.
And yes, yum salmon!! It sounds really tasty to me and I rarely have an excuse to do a big filet of it.
ETA: and I would do the salmon in the oven, grill the veg before the party, and then only have to worry about the two big flank steaks left on the grill, and then just slice and plate. That does seem like the easiest. More prep, but easiest during the actual party.
My only hesitation with B, was how you were going to handle it. A big chunk of salmon and a few huge steaks for 32 people seemed chaotic (plus, if people were serving themselves, I'd be stressed trying to figure out how much each person would take), but if you pre-slice and plate everything, that should make it manageable.

kams, given your update, B sounds easy and has the added bonus of looking impressive. Go for it!
I have a cold, and I'm annoyed that it meant I had to take the day off. I know that's the responsible thing to do, one day doesn't really make a difference in training, etc etc, but just in general I am not very good at wrapping my mind around changes of plan, and I was looking forward to today's workout! I am a little extra bit annoyed because I bought myself a couple new shirts yesterday and got around to putting one on this morning before deciding that going back to bed was the sensible option, so I'm all dressed up with no place to go.
I've done something to my back. Either that or I'm experiencing kidney failure (brought to you by Google), but I feel like there might be more symptoms beyond flank pain, should that be the case.
I did my long run on Saturday and I was fine. I wasn't even that sore or tired. I woke up Sunday and my right side hurt, but I thought I just slept funny. It bothered me a bit when we were kayaking, but it didn't bother me at all on my run Sunday evening. That was the run that I jumped on DH's handle bars & I was definitely sitting a bit contorted, so maybe I tweaked it further? I rested Monday. Tuesday I had 7 miles on bridges & it keep tightening up. Sometimes the pain radiates out. I rested yesterday and I'm resting today, but then pain isn't lessening. Actually, it might be getting worse. Boooooooo!!! I currently reek of menthol, because I'm wearing an icy hot patch.
[ Oh no! Stretch gently and ice. Hope it gets better
I saw this post and thought to myself "Is it still Thursday?" I feel like I'm drowning. I'm opening a new hotel and promised myself when I took this job I would keep up with my workout routine but we're in the final stretch and it's getting TOUGH. But I still have one more race this season so I don't have a choice. I'm barely remembering to feed my dog.
My finger hurts. How whiny is that? I know. Suck it up. But it's been months and I figured I must have jammed it or something and hurt it and I keep waiting for it to not hurt. But it is not going away. I need PT for my finger. lol!
clseale does it radiate to your groin at all? Ever had a kidney stone?
Radiating to the hip makes me think more musculoskeletal though.
Ya know, yesterday I did have a few times when I could feel pain in my groin. I briefly considered a kidney stone, but having never had one, I don't have any reference for pain. There have been waves of it that made me catch my breath, other times it's just uncomfortable, and sometimes it's okay.
Good news is that I took 3 ibuprofen last night & slept well. Then I did 9 miles this morning (probably not smart, but we're in Tampa & I wanted to check out a new trail lol) & it felt okay. Of course, I took it pretty easy pace wise. I feel it a bit now. I guess I'll just see how the weekend goes. Thanks!
clseale, hope you feel okay this weekend. Listen to your body!
Thanks! I will; I promise. I ran with the truck key in case I needed to turn around before DH and my pace was probably 30 sec slower than normal. I didn't feel it at all on my run, and before I knew it, we were at the turnaround. With that said, I'm resting for the rest of today and tomorrow. If I run Sunday, it will only be 1) if the pain is better and 2) a modified long run. We leave for vacation next Friday, and while we still plan to run a bit (we have a half when we're out there), it will be a step-back in mileage and intensity.
