I wish I could say something healthy like chicken noodle soup, but I'd be lying. It's McDonald's. I eat total and complete crap when I don't feel well.
I eat it for the broth. OMGGGG, the broth. I actually give at least half my noodles to my 4-year-old. I also like how the thin sliced beef cooks in the broth (at my place they serve it raw). So tender.
I love the sprouts and the pepper and the basil and the sriracha and the hoisin. Ahhhhh. It clears me right up.

It's served that way everywhere.
Eh. Ramen broth is so much better! To each her own! LOL.
My comfort food is not so much about taste -- it's what I ate every Saturday morning at home growing up. It has comforting associated memories.

I agree on pho. That often sounds really good when I'm stuffy and have a scratchy throat. The combination of spicy and salty is perfect, and also that it's pretty light on the tummy and has fresh ingredients.
A guilty sick comfort food is a dry packaged soup called Mrs Grass in a blue box. It's like 20,000g of straight sodium probably, but when I have a sore throat it's something I always crave. I find not all grocery stores carry it so it's one of those things I buy several boxes when I see it and keep a stock in my cupboard, especially in the winter cold months.
Sometimes when I'm sick they only things I eat are dry flour tortillas and lime popsicles. I don't know why, but those are sometimes the only "foods" I can tolerate. That's probably more with stomach bugs though.
Definitely chicken noodle soup. If it's homemade or from a deli, even better. I would totally be game for canned soup, but so many have loads of salt in them.
::Side Gripe:: I don't know why they have to put so much damn salt in canned soups, they really don't need 800 or so mg of sodium in one can. There are low sodium versions out there, but not many to choose from.
