I think my sad mom chip is broken. All of these people are posting about their kids going back to school ( and starting school for the first time) and how sad they are. I'm HAPPY! Schedules back on track, a bit of time to myself to be a productive human again... Them getting their energy out with someone other than me! YES!
I'm sad J is starting preschool. But, I also can't wait for him to have an outlet for all of his mental and physical energy! I seriously need him to have some way to apply his interest in math and spelling that doesn't involve me having to math all day long after I spend a good chunk of my day doing it at work! Especially because the kid can recognize math patterns within about 2 seconds that I dont even realize are patterns until 10 mins into it. This would also be why I could never homeschool my kids. If I can't keep up at 3 how the hell will I keep up in high school?
I'm spending the morning memorizing the lyrics to A Whole New World.
DD keeps wanting to sing it at night, but I keep getting the verses mixed up and singing "over, sideways, and under" like 100 times.
Then I keep singing "a dazzling place I never knew" when it's Aladdin's turn to sing. And that doesn't make any sense obviously. OBVIOUSLY.
This is what my life as come to.
My H has an enormous number of Disney songs memorized. Anytime I start singing one I mess it up and he points out that those aren't the correct words. So now when the kids ask to sing Under the Sea I tell them to go ask Daddy!
You and H @republicrat. He is constantly yelling at Siri. He also uses talk to text a lot and sometimes it comes up with the craziest stuff. We have saved some just to go back and laugh at.
M moved to the 3 year old room today. The kids seem so big!!! I did have one sad moment when he pointed to the door to his old class and said "I want to go back there".

Do you ever watch Big Bang Theory? There is an episode where the guy with the lisp can't get Siri to "work right". It is hilarious and I have actually said to DH a few times, do I talk funny? lol
When I worked at JCP one summer, the summer stuff was all gone by 4th of July. I still remember this poor mom who came in to buy her kid some summer clothes because his had been stolen off the laundry line, and all we had were like 2 tank tops. It's dumb.
My kid has decided that 2 am is an excellent time to wake up, scream for like 20 seconds, then go back to sleep for 30-45 minutes. I know I should just get up with him, but if he wakes at 2, it means he's only been asleep for 4 hours. No, kid. Stretch it out longer. Of course, then we get up around 3, I feed him, and then go back to bed around 4. But my alarm goes off at 5:45, so I'm tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired. I was going to ask my husband to get up with him last night, but he was snoring away. So instead of waking him, I got all mommy martyr annoyed and just got up. It's like this silent pissing contest between us about who's more tired now that he's home all day with B and I'm back at work. (Spoiler alert - it's me, dammit! I'm the one up in the middle of the night, I'm the one up at 5:45 to take the dog out, get showered and feed B before I leave, and I'm the one who drives an hour + each way to a job she barely tolerates most days. So there! )
I got my tula from pennypenny and I love it!! DD does to! She loves to wiggle her little arm above the strap and pull my hair though- which is why I got it chopped off. Jokes on her.
My very random randoms: I am super excited for DS to start round two of pre-K. He's a big kid this year! 3's and 4's are together at his school. We're going to the cabin this weekend. I'm happy to go, but sad we couldn't find anyone to come with us and help entertain the kids. It would have been way more fun with company. I have pieced together that part of my lack of work motivation was being depressed. The other part is not really giving a crap, though. I'm not sure there's enough zoloft in the world to make me care enough here. My group has too many people for the work (the market has slowed down a ton in the last year, and they're not releasing lots like they were, so my group really has zero actual design work to do). This makes me nervous.

Co-signed. My kids start back next Tuesday. Monday is their orientation. I feel like I just finished a marathon and I'm limping and practically crawling over the finish line, lol.
You needed to buy them in March, duh /sarcasm. That's a huge pet peeve of mine about buying clothes, especially Target. Let me but clothes when I NEED THEM dammit.

I'm happy too. I get why you might be a little sad to see your kids growing up (because they do eventually grow away from you) but I'm also really excited for them. School is so much fun at this age! The teachers really try hard to make it fun and interesting. And learning is still such a novelty and so engaging that you don't really realize you are learning and doing "work." It's a fun time in a person's life.

I just tried to get some shorts and couldn't find any that weren't on clearance. And those were all xxs and xs!
DD just gobbled a bunch of Manchego cheese. I feel like this makes her a fancy toddler. She sampled the cheeses at Whole Foods with me last week and seemed like she favored this one.
We'll just overlook the fact I fed her hash browns from Dunkin Donuts this morning because they had ran out of bananas which is what I originally planned to feed her.
I had contractions every 5-10 min all day yesterday but they never got close. Went away before bed and got a good night's rest. My mom and I are cleaning the house today and either that will get him out of there or he will be served his eviction notice at 7 am tomorrow! Makes no difference to me, kiddo, either way you will be outta there.
I'm on my way to meet leonard131 for lunch. However, I will likely have a hangry infant with me. I also see an Athleta trip in our future. Yay!
I let H sleep more last night because he was "so exhausted" and maybe "coming down with something." If I need to sacrifice more sleep to avoid two men whining in my house (only one of them actually being 2 years old), so be it.

My husband works from 7-11 tonight and will officially be done with this horrid night shift. I'm hoping he can take DD out somewhere tomorrow so I can do something I haven't done in two weeks-clean the house. I am dying to clean the house.
I have the first interview for a promotional position Tuesday morning. I'm trying not to be nervous or over-prepare. I give my best practice answers in my car. I wonder if the panel would be willing to go for a drive during the interview.
Protip: If you're ever looking to get some likes, tell someone they don't need to change their baby's diaper in the MOTN.
My kids are so defective. Neither one would stand for a wet diaper in the MOTN and would refuse to go back down. We had to change them both every time until they voluntarily STTN.

The mom meetup group I am a part of also has drama! There is a core group of about 8 moms and then there are others members. This group of 8 are close because they would constantly be the only ones at a majority of the meetups so of course they got close! One of the organizers has a lot of jealously and says "other members say they feel unwelcome at meetups with you guys." It is dumb. I love hearing about the drama because I don't have to be involved in it. People are weird.

I think anytime you get a large group of women together it becomes natural for different people to group off. I don't understand the drama surrounding it though.

Yes, the drama is all core members. I'm more on the outskirts because ... I'm not sure. But they're nice enough and my kid likes their kids so I can ignore a little drama.
I need someone to convince me that I will never make a scrapbook with all the maps and tickets and things I have saved from our trips throughout the years and I should just throw them out because who wants scrapbooks anyhow.
