H just called me. We brought Chevy (our oldest cat, he's 10) to the vet yesterday because he's lost a LOT of weight. It started when we brought Penny Lane home (about 2 years ago), but at first we thought it was just that he was getting a lot more exercise than he normally did (Penny Pie runs around like a nutjob kitten, whereas my MoMo was 21 and all she wanted to do was sit with me and watch Gilmore girls). They're CONSTANTLY chasing each other around the house. Chevy also appeared to be eating the same amount, drinking the same amount, going to the bathroom the same. The only difference was that he went from 13 lbs to 9 lbs.
The vet yesterday said that she thought it could be one of three things: 1) hyperthyroidism (which was my guess), 2) renal failure (Boo!) or 3) cancer. She said she didn't feel any lumps to make her believe it was cancer. So they did a bunch of bloodwork and I think H (Chevy is his baby) was just ready to hear the worst.
The vet came back today. The bloodwork showed... nothing. He looks perfectly healthy. She's wondering now if he has a tooth that's bothering him that is causing him to eat less (even if we see him at the bowl the same amount). She suggested that we get him wet food and feed it to him away from Penny Lane (Penny is a little bruiser and would push him out of the way and eat it). So, we'll start doing that and weigh him every once in awhile to see if he's gaining weight.
Here's hoping! But it was a relief to hear that it wasn't renal failure or anything. I get a weird feeling that this wet food thing will work. It's just so funny that he acts like himself in every other way except his weight. That's what leads me to believe it's something simple.
* Cate is 20 months old and still wakes up (and cries for a while) AT LEAST 2 times per night. We have tried EVERYTHING I think she is just a shitty sleeper. We are both exhausted (me and dan)
* my mom has some sort of surgery today that she mentioned casually. She was going to take a CAB home after. WTF? I told her she was a nut and I am going with her.
* Dan is a hot piece of ass. He shaved his head because he is balding and he looks amazing
She has some duplicated structures on her right kidney that cause pretty severe urine reflux. We saw it in utero, so we've just been waiting until she gets bigger to do the surgery. In the meantime she's on daily antibiotics. I guess it's not a big thing, and I'm glad it's something that can be corrected surgically and not a chronic condition. I was really hoping we could avoid surgery altogether, but I guess it's a must-do.
And tamb, I'll definitely keep the parasite thing in mind.
I'm just glad the bloodwork didn't come back and blatantly say "yeah, his kidneys are shutting down". We got 21 years out of MoMo... I'm expecting another 11 years from Chevy and another 19 years from Penny Lane. LOL!

I had to exchange my new bedding because it had a geometric pattern on it. It looked crooked on my bed and I ended up remaking my bed several times in the morning because the crooked lines were driving me batty.
- I am home from Bulgaria and I really wish I didn't have to work today. I just want to hide from all of the stuff that managed to not get done while I was out. What in the heck did people do all day? - DS loves ducks and quacks all the time. It is the most adorable thing I have ever seen. - Did I mention that I don't want to be in my office?
Today is one of the (few) days I don't like being a SAHM. If I had a normal job, I'd call in "sick" and watch crappy TV all day. Instead, I'm grocery shopping and cleaning the bathrooms I don't want to do annnnnything.

I think you need a personal day. Hop on the couch, give L some great toys and hang out for a while. Oh, and cuddle. Make sure to cuddle.
I'm finally reading The Girl Who Played With Fire. I don't know why I was so hesitant to read it. I really liked the first one after I got about halfway through it. This one has been much easier to get into right away!
This is good to know! I'm finally past the first chunk of Dragon Tattoo and enjoying it.

Yeah, the bathrooms can wait one more day I do HAVE to go to the store, but maybe I'll buy myself some cake. lol

This is what happened to our kitty last month. Glad to hear yours is okay!

I'm annoyed at my co-worker. I was going to take Friday off this week but before I could ask my boss she sends an e-mail that she is taking Thursday and Friday off. One of us has to be here, so now I can't take off. I'm taking Monday instead, but it's just not the same as Friday. I have errands I have to run every Monday after work, so even if I don't have to go to work, I have to leave the house at some point. The whole point of a MHD is to not have to leave the house. And I have to work late to cover the phones on Friday next week, so I can't take that one off either. I NEED A MENTAL HEALTH DAY PEOPLE.
