My mom especially, and all her siblings are OBSESSED with finding similarities between kids and extended family members. Like my cousin Louis posted a picture of his daughter on FB and my uncle commented with "Mini Tom!". Tom is Louis's brother. And really, it is just a slight vague resemblance, mostly because she looks like her dad, Louis! They never see similarities with the other parent and his family, of course. It's always on their side, lol.
We were at a wedding a week ago and some of my parents' friends (parents of the groom) kept commenting on how Alex looks EXACTLY like my mom. Whut? And then, they felt bad I guess so they said "Well, he does look like your dad a bit too.". MY DAD. Not my H of course. Or me. Nonono. He looks like my mom and my dad. Which is the funniest comment ever. I mean, here are some (old) pictures of my parents with the girls. Do any of my kids look like my dad? lol
MIL always goes on and on about how much David looks like H. When I jokingly said something about it I swear to god she said "well, I did say he has your chin." LLLLOL. Thanks, MIL.

My mom spent a ridiculous amount of time during her visit attempting to figure out whose feet and hands N has.
However, the rest of it is very clear. My boys both look like their dad to the point that the pediatrician that checked K out of the hospital when he was born said, "well, it's clear mom was just a vessel."
My in laws are obsessed with this sort of thing. It's obnoxious. According to them both of my kids look and act EXACTLY like their side of the family. Ok. I guess my genes gave them nothing.

At the hospital when DD was born both sides swore she looked like their side. My MIL still swears my DD looks like my H. It's laughable. She looks like me. Let me see if I can upload a picture.
Now everyone on his side says DS looks like H. I think the are holding on to hope one kid will get H's features
Yes, both sets of our parents do this. But we are guilty of participating with them. I don't know, I kind of think it's fun to talk about and doesn't annoy me that much. Except when they are completely wrong about a comparison. Lol.
Yes, unfortunately both my parents and IL's do this. My MIL is the worst about it, she will take any trait my boys have and find some way to attribute it to her family. Ridiculous stuff like, "oh DS1 loves the outdoors like his grandpa!" Umm, every kid loves the outdoors. Or, "DS1 loves chocolate just like his grandma!" Yes, because loving chocolate is such a rare trait.
I can't spend one afternoon with them without hearing about how my boys are so much like grandma, grandpa, uncle K, etc. etc. I want to poke my eyes out.
Yeeeeeassss, it is never us but some random ass cousin. Oh Leo looks just like my Emily. No ahole, he looks like me and I am not even related to you lol.
My mom sort of does this, but my mil is insane about it. Like, she just loooves that my kids resemble h. She says stuff like "they all look like Andrey. But then again YOU look like andrey too!" Omg mil. Yes. Everyone looks like your son.
It's really funny when my mom is going on about how theo looks like my uncle, then mil goes on about him looking like her grandfather. They just see what they want to see.

One of my twins is my MIL's clone. Except the four-year-old is tall, and MIL's whole family is really short. When talking about the fact that both the twins are tall, she informed me that her clone was probably just getting her height early, but will probably stop sooner than everyone else and be short. Um, thanks. I don't really care how tall my kids are as adults, but why would you prefer that she be short? Just so you guys match??

OMG my mom also says the "You and Andrew look alike too! Like siblings!". NOOOOOOOOOO. GROOOOOOOSSSSSS.
I am guilty of this. Not for other peoples' kids, because I never see any resemblance there, but I do it with my own. DS1 is spot on for H, and DS2 looks just like me, except he got H's blond hair and blue eyes. I am so tickled that the second kid looks like me. (If you disagree, humor me and lie please.)
Well, those are YOUR KIDS! They're supposed to look like you! LOL.
Yes. My MIL told everyone that my firstborn would have her nose based on his ultrasound picture. Uh, MIL, you don't look like an alien, so it's pretty hard to say based on a black and white scan of a 20 week old fetus.
My dad is the worst though. My poor kids can't do ANYTHING without my dad asking "who they get that from" or "who they look like."

I mean, I guess we're both white and blonde. That's as far as resemblance goes. Lol.
YES. H's grandma on his dad's side is horrible about this with our nieces and nephews. They have curly hair, it's because of her side. They have her side's eyes. Oh that nose looks just like hers! Everything is because of HER.
She also gave everyone a CD of her singing and a framed photograph of herself for one Christmas.

My mom was really difficult when DS #1 was born, so it was the opposite. "He must look like H's family because he doesn't look like you AT ALL." (Even I can see that DS resembles me a lot.)
She is willing to concede that maybe he looks like my sister, or of course, her. But me? Pssh.
